Dole is a really atmospheric, beautiful little town.
Dole is a really atmospheric, beautiful little town. Perfect to spend a few hours exploring. Seems to be a bit of a gastronomic centre, but unfortunately none of the restaurants was open when I was there (Sunday morning).

Really beautiful town set both by the river and the canal.
Really beautiful town set both by the river and the canal. We were on our way to Calais so did not have the time or energy to fully appreciate the setting or explore, but what we did see was charming.

We stayed in Dole as a base to explore the area as we are thinking of settling there. The town has a lot of historic charm/architecture etc;
also pleasant the presence of water everywhere (river Doubs, canal)
and large forests nearby. Like a lot of French provincial towns, a bit
"dead" on Sundays (and even Mondays when most shops etc are
closed, but that's normal in many parts of France). Friendly convivial atmosphere generally except if you want to eat after 2 pm: lunch time is lunch time, and that's from 12 to 2! Again, very French outside the big cities.... But from what we saw it would seem a pleasant place to live with quite a good community life/activities and all facilities including a several shopping centres, and a good base for tourists to explore the Jura mouintains or the Bourgogne wine areas. Extremely well connected transport wise with motorways
in all directions linking into the national motorway grid.

Dole was charming and we enjoyed every minute.
Dole was charming and we enjoyed every minute.
We left our hotel bookings abit late but
we were fortunate to be able to stay at Hotel de la Cloche......it was excellent. Staff extremly professional, hotel in all was professionally run ....nothing was too much trouble (ideal for a business man too). They welcome families too..across the road from the hotel is great park and late afternoon there is a Carousel ....just delightful. We did not have breakfast in the hotel but it looked very good. We had several drinks and great coffee.
The position of the hotel was perfect .....central in the middle if the town. Many resturants close by easy walking distance, plus an excellent one next door to the Hotel.

We LOVED Dole!!!
We LOVED Dole!!! It is really a quiet and most picturesque town full of history and architectural wonders. But Alas! we didn't find any Tabacs selling postcards and NO cafés open on Sunday morning - oh just the one, beside la Notre Dame cathedral! In fact, apart from the usual patisserie-boulangerie places, there was NOTHING open on Sunday in Dole at all!!!!!!

Only visited for one night, but really taken by the town.
Only visited for one night, but really taken by the town. Beautiful walk along the canal, lovely restaurants in a gorgeous canal side setting. Gorgeous old town with a fabulous church at its centre. Lovely wide streets and narrow quirky streets. Fascinating to see Louis Pasteur’s birth and workplace.
Would love to take a boat ride on the canal next time.
Stayed in Gite L’table, a real gem of a place to stay.
Ate in Le Moulin with 3 children who loved the pizzas, and tried moules frites for the first time. A success!
We will revisit.
A great hotel located in a charming location just on the river.
At first we were a bit afraid for the potential noise of the water during the night (I am a light sleeper), but the room had an exceptional soundproofing.
The city center is at 5 minutes walk, so it is possible just to leave the car in public parking nearby and enjoy your visit by walking.
The room was really spacious and decorated with taste. The bathroom was also really spacious.
All in all, we really did enjoy our stay at this hotel.
A lovely, tastefully decorated, spacious apartment. One of the best that we have stayed in and very good value for money. Our host, Nathalie met us on arrival and was happy to offer us an earlier check in time. Everything was very clean with an excellent kitchen so that we could prepare a meal. Right in the heart of Dole, very near the Tourism office.
Secure parking for our bicycles in the courtyard. Lovely view of the park outside the city wall.
great location! the host had great communication, before and during our stay. the room had everything you could need. everything was in working order and there aren’t crazy house rules like some other properties we have stayed at. the attentiveness and convenience of a stay at a hotel without the extra cost of paying for services you don’t use.
This was the first time I stayed at a hotelF1 and it will not be my last time. I love the concept, no keys just codes, clean, comfortable and a fairly spacious room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even provided a safe space to park my bicycle. It's the best hotel in the budget category. I highly recommend it.
We were traveling with a one year old and she enjoyed the toys that were in the loft for her to play with. The living room and kitchen were spacious. We also loved the location as it was just near everything in old town. My husband is from Dole so he very much was familiar with the area.
This stay was magical after watching canal boats from a bike seat, to then stay on one. Roberto is an awesome host from reception to departure. Strong wifi, location perfect, lovely breakfast, really loved our stay for the two nights, including exploring Dole.
Admired this Hotel on our visits to Dole lovely town. Decided to stay this time. Not dissappointed lovely riverside location. Restaurant on site pleasant. Self service breakfast good start to day. Room ok size and lift to floors.
Wonderful room with beautiful decorations. The bed is comfortable and there is a nice shower. Very nice breakfast with local cheese. Short walk to Dole for restaurants and sightseeing. The hosts are nice and accommodating.
Decent location, but a bit of a walk to Dole city center. Outside appearance of hotel somewhat deceiving, interior very nice and recently renovated. Secure & covered bicycle storage was provided.
Big and well furnished appartment in Dole, close to the historical center. Ideal for hanging around and discover the nice little town. Bakery and supermarket are walking distance.
Well this is typical French one night hotel. I would say ok means not great not bed - the only
point is price 80 Euro w/o breakfast is not fitting to this kind of simple hotel
What a wonderful property and staff. The hotel was centrally located and the staff were so helpful and polite. The room was large and very comfortable.
