Lyon is a gastronomic centre with a pretty architectural façade ranging from antiquity to modern day. Place Bellecour is centrally located between the Saône and Rhône Rivers in the 2nd arrondissement and opens out into major shopping streets.
On the banks of the Saône lies the district of Vieux Lyon, a great example of the Renaissance and full of museums such as the Lyon History Museum. Winding your way through the beautiful streets you can make your way up to the spectacular white-stone Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and look down over the city.
There is a lot going on in the main park of Lyon, Parc de la Tête d'Or, which is home to a zoo of exotic animals as well as various sports facilities and a large lake for boating. Boats of a different description are docked on the banks of the Rhône River; they host parties late into the night.
For a taste of tradition, Lyon’s famous bistros, or Bouchons Lyonnais, provide a cosy atmosphere for some of the best in French gastronomy. Plan your perfect holiday in one of Booking.com’s 130+ hotels, apartments or guest houses.

Lyon is an extremely tourist-friendly city, with a number of ancient, historic and architectural wonders. The central of Lyon lies between 2 important rivers, the Rhone and the Saone and the confluence between them lies just south of the city centre. The highlights of the visit was the iconic Notre-dam-de Fourviere, the ancient Roman-built Odean theatre and cinema, and the Vieux City along the Saone River. This was richly enhanced through the 90 min bus tour from Bellecour.

I visited principally because it was Saint-Exupery's birthplace. Unfortunately, there isn't a Saint-Exupery museum yet: there's a plaque on the house where he was born, and a statue with the little prince at the junction of the roads where he was born and where he used to live. But there's loads to do. It's a superbly historic city, very picturesque, culturally extremely rich, and the local cuisine is absolutely fantastic. Sunsets on the Matterhorn from the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourviere are some of the best I've seen anywhere. Would definitely recommend for a leisurely vacation!

Lyon is so interesting!
Lyon is so interesting! There is ART everywhere, the Silk neighbourhood is a MUST, the Cinematography-related theatres and the Museums are amazing, the plazzas and Cathedrals are unique, it is something like a smaller Paris with a touch of Rome! There is even a Fountain with roman sculptures ! Shops are AMAZING, and dont miss the restaurant called Ëntrecotes"!

We spent five weeks traveling through France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. Out of so many places, Lyon and Florence were our favorites.
Lyon had a wonderful vibe, was very walkable and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Lyon's tourist department offers an "Only Lyon Citycard" that I highly recommend. It provides discounts to museums and other attractions, free public transportation, a river cruise, and lots more.

The shopping is great with a mixture of small independent stores and larger chainstores and department stores. . There is a very food mixture of old and new buildings and an excellent transport system. There is an interesting but challenging walk down steps from Croix Rousse, across the river and up to the heights above Lyon. Locals are used to the hills. There are a lot of steps so take water and wear good shoes!

Where to start?
Where to start? There is so much to see and do in Lyon that the few days we were there were totally inadequate. We had an outstanding meal at Le Layon in Rue Mercière, which was within walking distance of our hotel. Next time, I would use public transit more and set my own timetable; it was frustrating to be constrained by the time limits of guided tours.
Since we were departing from Gare Lyon Part-Dieu, we wanted a hotel that was close to the station. This Mercure hotel is literally adjacent to Gare Part-Dieu. The station is directly behind the Mercure. The price was reasonable for the location in Lyon. There is a nearby Tram and bus stop which provides easy public transportation into central Lyon or Vieux Lyon. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Claire was amazing. Despite the fact that she was alone at the property she went above and beyond to accommodate us. There rooms are very spacious for france! Renovated sweets are beautiful! Our AC didn’t work so they upgraded us to a bigger room for no charge. Very reactive lady claire very gard working. Thank you for making our stay memorable.
This is by far the best place we stayed for our France trip! My family all loves it very much. The room is spacious and equipped with everything you need. The host is really kind and helpful. We highly recommended this place. You can also find all kinds of shops you need nearby. Metro is only 3 mins away.
I like the room a lot. It was nice, quite, clean, big enough and with all necessary equipment in the right places. Locations was good too. Breakfast was excellent, like always in France. Staff is polite, friendly and speak English. Everything was awesome, even slightly better than I could expect.
Great location - across the road from where the tram from the airport drops you off and also right next door to the station, so great if you're using Lyon as stop on a bigger France tour as I was. From there, it delivers exactly what you expect, nothing amazing but also no obvious downsides.
The room was very clean and comfortable, we got water, tea and coffee on the desk. The TV had more channels than most places we've stayed in during our trip to France. The price was quite good, compared to other hotels around the area. They stored our bikes overnight safely.
The propriety is in the city centre, and walking distance to a multitude of restaurants, bars, attractions etc. Usually this chain is in city centers all over France and it offers all the comforts for a stay, including a small kitchen, dishwasher, etc.
Super nice and clean hotel in Lyon. The staff was extremely pleasant and polite. Attention to detail. The room was very clean. The breakfast was a nice traditional French breakfast, quite pleasant to have in the living room.
Enjoyed the stay. Quiet and clean hotel with friendly staff located near the Saône river. Bike rental is nearby by (Lyon Vélo’v), which makes it easy to ride to the city center by bike. A supermarket is also nearby.
The location was close to vieux Lyon but the train to the hotel up the hill at Fourvière stopped at 11pm. Quiet place the staff was very nice the hotel room was perfect modern and clean, and not too expensive.
The guesthouse was lovely and added that extra bit of ‘France’ to our stay in Lyon. Located in a quiet courtyard only 30 metres from the main centre of Croix Rousse with easy access to transport into Lyon
very nice rooms with the option to have extra large bed which is a rarity in France, clean, parking available directly at the hotel, breakfast available, very nice staff and hotel room view
This property is located two blocks from restaurant central in Lyon, and two blocks from the old town. It is a super comfortable hotel and the staff are uniformly exceptional.
Great location. Updated nice, clean room. Lobby was so cool. Super friendly staff. Adorable room overlooking nice street. Favorite hotel on our 2 week visit to France.
A lovely quaint old world boutique hotel in a great location in Lyon. The staff were also absoloutly fantaatic. Such a lovely welcome each time we passed the front desk.
THE SHOWER WAS THE BEST THING IN THE ROOM ITS WAS THE BESTY HOTEL I STAYED IN LYON THE BREAK FAST WAS GOOD THE STAF OF RECEPTION WAS PERFECT THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
