We had an enforced stop because our car broke down.

We had an enforced stop because our car broke down. We ended up in the town for 10 days, staying first in a hotel and then an apartment in the city centre. We walked everywhere and saw all the sights offered at this time of the year. A weekend stay is not recommended as many restaurants and shops and places of interest are shut on Sunday and Monday. It is a lovely medieval town full of shops, restaurants and cafes. I recommend the Kitty cafe is you like cats. There are several chocolate shops and one chocolate factory. The museum Labenche is very good and the Mortlake Tapestries are exceptional. If you have a car there are a lot of places to visit nearby. In fine weather lots of walks near the city.

A great little city with lots to do and see.

A great little city with lots to do and see. We took a guided tour of the Denoix distillery which was excellent. A visit to the open market for duck and local produce is recommended. And dinner or lunch at the Gueuleton restaurant was just perfect if your a big meat lover!

I paid for an upgraded room which I did not get. The room I did get was dirty and not a pleasant smell. There is nothing favourite about this hotel - I did not like it and would not stay there again. Little choice in meals in the restaurant - no vegetarian option - and a flea on the table. On my next visit I would avoid this hotel completely

Brive came over as an archetypal French Town that had its old town in the centre with great shops bars and restaurants. Very clean and very friendly. A day is all you would need to do everything but that was the charm

    Charming town. Very few tourists.

Charming town. Very few tourists. Lots of nice restaurants and a wonderful Saturday market with fresh local foods. Very family oriented town; most things (except the churches & rugby) are closed Sunday. Museums don’t offer English translations. Try to catch a rugby match and root on the home team, CA Brive!

A fantastic Hotel in a great location. Central to everything and within easy walking distance to restaurants and bars. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. We parked the car just behind the hotel which was great.Room was very clean, light and had air con. Bathroom was very clean with a large shower. Giulia told me how to access the hotel since I asked if it was a problem to arrive late. The receptionist leaves at 23:00 so she gave me the code and told me my room number. She also called a taxi for me in the morning. Nice clean place, in good location. I was surprised that breakfast wasn’t included but otherwise it was great.

The bed was comfy, the hotel was very well-located for a road trip (close to the motorway), the AC was working well and it was quiet. The window had shutters, so one could make the room dark at nights, which made us sleep well. The breakfest wad tasty, with variety of food - eggs, ham, cheese, musli, yogurt, fruits, and sweets.

We could park in front of the hotel. The staff was very welcoming and a very simple check in process (not those that took dozen of minutes with someone talking to their computer rather than to you). The food (dinner and breakfast) was good. Despite been in an industrial area, it was a quiet environment.

A real old time warp hotel - no lift, old fashioned wallpaper, huge armoire and a tiny shower. But the water was hot and plentiful and the man at reception (in the bar downstairs) carried my bag up the stairs. Close to the city centre but quiet. Breakfast was good value too.
