On the shores of Killary Harbour lies Ireland's oldest coaching inn. Dating from 1796, you'll find traditional home cooking, antique furniture and the most spectacular views in Ireland. I live in the area and have enjoyed dinner here before, but stayed for a number of nights recently due to service failures at my residence during Storm Bert. The hotel is lovely and comfortable; especially the residents’ lounge. The staff are stellar and made our stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible. Will stay again just for fun.

Standing at the head of Cashel Bay, this hotel is set in 50 acres of award-winning gardens and woodlands. Cashel House offers luxurious bedrooms, fine dining and a private beach. What a gem! After several days of traveling, this place was the perfect spot to unwind and treat ourselves. From the spacious room to the lovely patio and the exquisite restaurant, everything was wonderful. The house itself is steeped in history and offers much to explore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and we really appreciated the manager's offer to lend us a charging cable for our car.

Surrounded by private parkland on the shores of the Atlantic, Renvyle House features a golf course, swimming pool and award-winning restaurant. My Mam and I came for a night for my Birthday and we had a wonderful time. The outdoor pool and hot tub was amazing. Dinner was exceptional. We spent a cosy night int he bar with an open fire and slept so very well. Then started our next day with a delicious breakfast. I could not fault the place in the slightest.

Set in Leenaun, 29 km from Kylemore Abbey, Delphi Lodge offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Unique and gorgeous property. You meet interesting and like minded travellers at the communal meals and the staff make you feel at home immediately. The food is excellent, hearty made to order breakfast with freshly squeezed juices and lovely multi course dinners made from fresh local ingredients. The grounds, views, location are so beautiful, isolated and unique. A relaxing place to unplug, read and recharge. The walks/hikes around the property, surrounding area and the fish hatchery are lovely. We weren't there during fishing season but the hikes and the recommended local driving loops are excellent. Read the binder for great info about the area and a chuckle. The closest town is about a 20 min challenging (winding narrow roads, sheep, breathtaking scenery) drive, so not for people looking for 'action' but rather for those seeking quiet and interesting conversation over drinks in the evenings.

Ballynahinch Castle Hotel in County Galway is set within 700 acres of woodland, with the beautiful backdrop of the 12 Bens Mountain range. The excellent restaurant holds 2 AA Rosettes. Ballynahinch is the real deal! We, as visitors, really wanted to treat ourselves to a stay at a "Castle Hotel", and we truly had a wonderful stay. Just fantastic. I would go again in a heartbeat. In contrast, we stayed at an unrelated castle hotel very near Donegal Town, at about the same price point, and it was disappointing. That other place was basically just a large quite generic hotel with a fancy old-looking stone facade and fountain out front. Pretty fake. No comparison. Ballynahinch is the gold standard! In fact, it was the best single element of our 15-day Irish holiday.

At the edge of Clifden, All the Twos offers rooms with spacious bathrooms. Guests can enjoy mountain views, free Wi-Fi, and free parking, 15 minutes’ drive from Connemara National Park. Very very roomy, comfortable king size bed, quiet, price very reasonable. No breakfast but coupon given for €10 breakfast at downtown hotel which we used and was very good. Front desk person gave good advice to our questions. On edge of town but 1 km walk to the Station bar.
