Beautiful hotel that feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, with lovely rooms and a cosy restaurant area. The hot tubs overlooking the lake are great. The food was very good both at dinner and breakfast (we loved the happy marriage cake - the best we had in Iceland - and the homemade blueberry jam!)

Great location, friendly staff and really good breakfast. Our little cottage was incredibly cosy and perfect for our 1-night-stay. There is a tiny church and cemetery on the grounds which adds an interesting/historical touch.

Featuring river views, Hjartarstaðir Guesthouse offers accommodation with patio, around 37 km from Gufufoss. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay.... Amazing remote location, not far from the town Eglisstadir, the hosts were really helpful, it was clean and comfortable. We saw the Northern Lights that night at the guesthouse and it was really beautiful experience. I recommend this guesthouse for everyone who is traveling on the east side of Iceland.

Boasting a garden, Fjalladýrð Guesthouse is set in Modrudalur and also provides a bar and a shared lounge. Featuring a concierge service, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. Absolutely wonderful place to stay at. Pastoral surroundings and breathtaking landscapes. The house itself was so cosy and clean that we enjoyed every single moment of staying there, especially the black sheep who was wandering around the house adding more authenticity to the place.

Berjaya Hérað Hotel is situated in Egilsstadir, 5 km from Lagarfljot River. It offers a terrace bar and 24-hour room service. All rooms have Wi-Fi, satellite TV and wooden floors. Very comfy and nice hotel and had a very good night sleep

Set in Skjöldólfsstaðir, Hotel Studlagil offers 3-star accommodation with a garden, a restaurant and a bar. The hotel features family rooms. At the hotel, all rooms come with a desk. What didn’t I like…the stay was wonderful at Hotel Studlagil. The staff person was friendly and even shared a lovely conversation with us in the evening. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone travelling in this area of Iceland!

The Bank Sleeping Guesthouse in Neskaupstaður features a garden and a shared lounge. This bed and breakfast offers free private parking and a shared kitchen. The building was unique, accommodations were very clean and the shared bathrooms and kitchen were great. Host/owner was very responsive and helpful. Great value overall- would stay again.
