Situated in Ferrara, 400 metres from Ferrara Cathedral, Downtown - Camere in Centro features air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and express check-in and check-out. This was my first experience with a room with a shared bathroom (well, if you don’t count living in a student dormitory 15 years ago), so I was quite pessimistic about such an option. In fact, the entire hotel is absolutely new and perfectly clean. There are only 7 rooms in the hotel, two bathrooms. The bathrooms are very warm, everything is perfectly clean, there is shampoo in individual packets. Contactless check-in through the web page did not work for me, but the host opened the door remotely when I called him on WhatsApp. The host speaks English. The location is right in the city center, we arrived in the city late but felt completely safe. Ferrara is a very charming town, there are no crowds of marginalized people on the streets as in some other places. This is a very good option for the price (45 euros), I recommend.

The staff was amazing, super professional and friendly! Easy to park the car for free in the front of the hotel, fabulous breakfast and space full rooms. We loved it!

Unlike the white sheet, cookie cutter template of a hotel, the repurposed factory/newspaper building felt like staying at a friend’s place who knows how to decorate. Learning how to enter and exit the facility was easy and modern. It made the place feel safer. The living room/dining room/common area was comfortable and beautiful with much information to learn more about Parma. The bed was very comfortable. Despite access closures on one side of the train station and having to go the long way around, it’s still very close to the train station. The owner is delightful. The morning breakfast is great. I even like the details of the decor and plants surrounding the freight elevator. Eco-friendly and aesthetic, affordable… it provided me very good value for my short stay in Parma.

Set just 41 km from Giovanni Zini Stadium, Corte La Volta offers accommodation in Piacenza with access to free bikes, a garden, as well as full-day security. Corte la Volta is a truly charming agriturismo with exceptionally kind hosts, set right in the middle of the fields. They are genuinely engaged in farming, and the accommodation itself consists of former farm buildings. It’s very interesting, exactly as described and just as it looks in the photos. The hosts are wonderfully warm and welcoming.

Dopa Hostel is located Bologna, a 10-minute walk from the Cathedral and 350 metres from Palazzo Poggi Museum. It features free WiFi throughout. The customer experience that I had was exceptional. The personnel were very helpful with my early check-in and my other requests. The check-in process was very smooth and everything was good. The location was very good, close both to Bologna centre and main train station. The room and bathroom were clean and I would say it was a very good deal overall.

Just 250 metres from the beach, Erbavoglio Hotel is a 15-minute walk from the centre of Rimini. This property offers a free outdoor hot tub and a wellness centre, plus rooms with a balcony. The staff are so friendly and welcoming!

Honey Rooms is set in a 16th-century town house 150 metres from Ferrara's Cathedral, in the historical centre. All elegant rooms come with free Wi-Fi and an LCD satellite TV. Stayed only one night, but the location is perfect, and room is very very comfortable. The self checkin/ checkout process is really convenient. I hope I will get a chance to stay here again.

Set on its private beach, Milano Marittima's Bellettini Hotel offers parking and free WiFi, an outdoor pool, and a wellness centre with sauna, Turkish bath and hot tub. We stayed one night and everything was excellent. The staff spoke excellent English, which was a benefit for us as we were tired after a long journey from Canada’s west coast. The front desk manager was very helpful- he arranged the payment for our on-street parking spot (the hotel also has its own parking garage), and personally brought extra towels to our room and fixed a connection problem with the wi-fi as well. The restaurant dinner was good and the free breakfast selections were outstanding- the best we’ve ever found in Italy.
