Checking-in and out was easy. The room is very spacious and clean. The open-air bath is fantastic. The view of the mountains and Tone River from the balcony is awesome. The soundproofing of the balcony door is great as I didn’t hear any sound of the river and trains when I was sleeping at night. Overall, it was a restful stay and I enjoyed my stay very much. I highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Minakami.

Boasting garden views, Ryutakuzenji 宿坊 offers accommodation with balcony, around 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. While the location was a bit out of the way (roughly 25min drive from Takasaki station), it was in a beautiful and quiet spot surrounded by cherry blossoms in full bloom. The room we had was the biggest out of all the places we stayed in Japan, was clean and comfortable, and had a private garden with covered deck and outdoor bath, which was absolute bliss after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The hospitality shown to us by the staff was exceptional, and we had no problem communicating through limited Japanese/English. They served traditional meals, which were beautifully presented and a delight to eat, having small servings of lots of different things. We made use of the free bicycles and had a great time exploring the area while getting a bit of exercise.

One of the most beautiful stays, we have ever had. The food was delicious the staff were attentive and kind.

This was the nicest hotel room we stayed in across Japan (we stayed at 6 hotels and various other apartments, homes, and condos). Everything was updated and the layout was exceptional. The staff was kind enough to facilitate getting us a tee time at the onsite golf course. It was an amazingly beautiful course.

Kusatsu onsen Futabaya offers accommodation in Kusatsu. There is 1 paid public bath facility and 3 free public bath facilities within a minute's walk from the property, while Yubatake is also a... Perfect location, clean rooms, nice private onsens on the first floor. There's a cozy common space with tables and chairs, where you can have dinner by the fireplace. If you come here in winter - there are ACs and electric blankets to keep you warm at night. Everything was great about our stay.

Featuring 3-star accommodation, Hotel Coco Grand is set in Takasaki, 28 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park and 49 km from Kumagaya Rugby Stadium. Everything was great! Comfortable room, great location, spacious bath, amazing breakfast and evening bar service. I might have been the only American there, yet it was welcoming and comfortable.

Located in Takasaki, Dormy Inn is less than a 10-minute walk from Takasaki Railway Station. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free internet access and a public bath. Your hotel is very clean. The location is good and convenient. Small gifts are here and there which is very nice. I would like to recommend your hotel to my friends.

Situated 35 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, 19 km from Ishidan-gai Steps and 2.5 km from Lunar Park, GUNPAKUMaebashi provides accommodation set in Sōsha. Phenomenal place for the money we paid (5 people in total, around 4k¥ per person), if we could have, we would have stayed longer. If the price doesn't increase too much over the coming years, there is no reason not to recommend this place. Easy to book, fantastic place (3 separate bedrooms, each with 2 beds), great and big dining and cooking area and even an adjacent living room. If you are in the area, go for it. Heads-up though: we had rented a car (parking space is available, more than enough), so I can't judge public transportation in this case.
