Located in Hikone, 4.2 km from Hikone Castle, Biwafront Hikone provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Wonderful stay, beautiful facilities and very hospitable staff. Loved the room and the spaceous bathroom and bath. The views are great on each floor and from the balcony I could even see the Hikone castle. Wonderful sunset too. Dinner and breakfast were plenty and very tasty. Lived the sakura mousse dessert and french toast for breakfast. They also offered wine on the 10th floor and soba after onsen visit. Onsen was amazing, the outside pool had a great view straight on the lake. Stayed there about 3 hours in the evening, very relaxing. They also oranized a tranfer to Maibara eki, no stress when leaving the hotel for shinkansen. Souvenir shop.had some beautiful art, so had to grab a couple of chopaticks holders and postcards as well before leaving.

Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. We stayed there for two nights, and it was one of the best hotels we have been to in our life. The hotel is located approximately 20 minutes walk from the Ogotoonsen Train station. However, the hotel provides free shuttle bus service from and to the train station. Just inform them beforehand. The hotel itself is beautiful inside. But the most wonderful are the people working there - everyone, be it check-in staff, kitchen staff or service staff - went above and beyond to provide fantastic, friendly service and comfortable stay for their guests. They readily answered our inquiries and were very kind. For example, they brought us to the Sakamoto the day after our arrival so that we could take the Sakamoto Cable Car to explore the Mount Hie. We booked the Junior Suite with Open-Air Hot Spring Bath. The room is large and gorgeous, with a separate bedroom and living room. The semi-open hot spring bath had a lovely view of Lake Biwa and starry heaven at night. It is also a very quiet location, so the feeling was truly magical while bathing at night. All necessary amenities are provided: Toothbrushes, hair and body products, several yukatas in our size and great tea and coffee. Our room booking also included dining in a private room with a several-course menu. This brings us to the next point: The food. The chef and the other kitchen staff are true artists. The unique kaiseki style meals, be it breakfast or dinner, were always presented elegantly. The fresh and generous meals represented the very best of the best of Japanese Omi region cuisine and were absolutely delicious. Many compliments to the staff! The facilities were excellent. An Onsen was a two minute walk and a train station was 5 - 10 minutes. A lake was nearby and the local area was very pleasant. Access went well.

Situated just 26 km from Hikone Castle, Ryokan Beniayu features accommodation in Nagahama with access to an open-air bath, free bikes, as well as a lift. The staff was extremely kind and caring. There is a shuttle to and from the train station which is practical. The view was beautiful and it was very peaceful.

Great views of the Lake. Spacious Room. Free shuttle bus from Otsu station. Luggage transferred from Kyoto Station whilst we did sightseeing. Value for money. Staff extremely polite.

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 2.7 km of Hikone Castle and 6 km of Maibara Station. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. We had some delay in reaching the accommodations, but they allowed us to have our dinner right as we entered, before checking in. They also helped us to call a taxi to the train station on our last day. My mother left an item behind, and they kindly mailed it over to my address in Tokyo after we left! Compliments to the chef, the food every breakfast and dinner were so delicious, and my family and I got to try many local delicacies in the comfort of the hotel :) My parents also enjoyed their very first experience of onsen here!
