Set in Matsukawa, 24 km from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, ワールドカリーの館 すぱいすろーど offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The staff was lovely, we had dinner at the restaurant there- indian style, and it was delicious! The owner made everything to order and we had a great time. Atsu was so nice and welcoming! Relatively close to Matsumoto and Nagano, but great if you look for a peaceful and quiet location

Close to Togakushi Shrine, 宿屋白金家 yadoya-shiroganeya 1日1組限定2名から8名様まで 全館貸切り 伝統的建造物の旅籠宿 Traditional culture experience is set in Nagano and has a hot spring bath and garden. Simply the best accomodation I have experienced anywhere! Our stay with Maki, her Mother and Kenta dog was relaxing and magical after a week in Tokyo and Maki does absolutley everything to make you feel welcome and at home with her gentle, warm hospitality, The Ryokan itself is an elegant traditional building and is beautifully kept. The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day features a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 9.1 km of Otsumago and 9.3 km of Kotoku-ji Temple. stayed for 2 nights at this place and it was one of the best experiences on our 3 week trip to Japan. The house is owned by husband and wife who works at the place. We had the whole house to ourselves 2 people. The house is situated 6 km from town and is a traditional Japanese onsen next to a waterfall. We felt very welcome and the family went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The food was some of the best we had in Japan cooked traditionally by the fire in the house and served in the dining room. The family drove us forth and back to the train station, and when we went hiking on the Magome - Tsumago trail, and took us to the festival in the town. If you are in for a real Japanese experience- we can’t recommend this place enough.

Centrally located in the Echo Land district, Hakuba Echo Hotel and Apartments offers comfortable rooms with mountain views. Location near Happo, convenient store & Echo Base camp about 200m. Room quite spacious for 4 of us. Sound proof. Friendly & kind staff. Helped us with luggage. Delicious breakfast with several choices. Fresh oranges & apples are great. Shuttles to Happo & Hakuba 47 every morning. Nice place to walk around and many cafes nearby. Heater were helpful at winter.

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. The hosts went above and beyond in every aspect to take care of my parents during their stay. It was very helpful having the pick up and drop off service from the train station since they weren't confident navigating by themselves.

Located in the centre of Shibu hot-spring area and a 5-minute drive from Yudanaka Train Station, Sakaeya offers Japanese-style accommodations. The service was outstanding. We got yukatas, Harris, some sweets and a fresh cup of tea at the beginning. I have some tattoo but I was allowed to come and gabe a private room including our own onsen bath. The room was huge with tatami mats, wonderful cosmetics, a rain shower two big beds, very clean. Lovely music playing. The diner and breakfast was a lot but not too much. We were able to taste so many different things, and we bought a typical onsen puddin l. Furthermore there was a free shuttle back to yudanaka station where the denesetsu line goes. Fantastic place and I miss it
