We spent the best time in Asia so far thanks to Thone and his family. It was his brother's birthday and they invited us and treated us like we were family. The place is quiet and you can rent bicycles. And the food is really good and cheap. Thone, my friend, if you read this, thank you again for everything ! To you and your family. A wonderful relaxing quiet stay in this beautiful room with balcony & hammock on the rivers edge and glorious sunset views. A very welcoming and relaxed family run guesthouse and restaurant, food so fresh and delicious! Recommend a slow walk around Don Det taking in the river scenes/locals at work and coffee stops and definitely hiring a bike (available at guesthouse)to explore the neighbouring islands and the waterfalls. Highly recommend this accommodation.

This was the best stay I’ve had while traveling down through Laos from Luang Prabang. Totally recommend it to everyone! Alex and Leymon are super friendly. they even helped arrange a ride to Don Det and were quick to reply to messages before I arrived. Especially, Leymon’s Asian food was amazing, honestly as good as what I’ve had in the actual countries. Can’t wait to try it again! Between meals we played cards, chatted, and hung out with their dogs and cats—such a chill vibe. The room was clean and comfy, with a soft bed, towels, and shampoo. The shower has an open ceiling, so you might notice it when it rains, but it didn’t bother me at all. Loved the whole experience!

Brand new place with a perfect view, red sunsets over Mekong. Very clean and comfortable room. Restaurants serving good food nearby. Walking distanse to the port. The owner was very sweet and helpful. I missed a small refrigerator (minibar) for drinks and more hooks for hanging clothes. The don't accept cards, cash only! There is no ATM at Don Det.

We had a great stay at Sengahloune Hotel. Mr Thep and his wife were extremely helpful and organised our transfer which worked out seamlessly. Our room was very comfortable with great air conditioning which we were extremely grateful for as it was very hot. We had bikes from the hotel which were well maintained and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island. The pool was extremely welcome at the end of a hot day. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Don Khong.

Peaceful and relaxing guesthouse ran by friendly family. It was nice to have a private balcony with my own hammock and air conditioning for about 11USD per night. The restaurant is good too, and you can chill with a beer in the garden to watch sunset over the bridge. I enjoyed my week here very much and will happily stay here again if I return to Don Khon.

A lovely little guest house on the quieter Don Khon island but close to the bridge so with easy access to Don Det. The rooms were huge with comfortable beds, good air con and a nice balcony with hammocks We rented bicycles from a nearby store for our stay (60 pence per day!) and cycled around both islands easily. A peaceful and chilled part of the world

Nice accommodation right at the river with beautiful view from the terrace. The restaurant is right above the water and everything is freshly prepared. The room is good, but I wouldn’t call it “de Luxe”. The bathroom would urgently need some maintenance. Even if everything works it doesn’t look good anymore.

Perfect guesthouse for a cozy stay. We appreciated the large room and the private veranda. The view from the verandah over the Mekong is simply fantastic. We would have liked to stay much longer. The accommodation is quiet and clean. The location is perfect: in the quiet part and yet not far from restaurants. It is possible to book tickets for onward travel. Boats pick you up directly from the guesthouse.
