The resort was perfect for the two night stay in the mountains. It is a perfectly well located hotel to reach out the two main hikes in the region: Balcony walk (W6) and Jabal Shams summit walk (W4). Accessible with a normal car, but you have to be a confident driver and drive slow. Breakfast and dinner were very decent given we were only a few guests staying in the hotel. Thanks to that we enjoyed a free upgrade. Views from the hotel over the mountains were spectacular, especially during sunrise/sunset.

We had an incredible stay at the Sunset House in Jabal Shams. The host (Mr. Mousa) went above and beyond to ensure our visit was perfect. When one of our cars broke down on the way, he personally came to pick us up and took us to the villa in his own car. After taking us to the villa located on top of the mountain, he went back, took the broken car to a mechanic, and had it fixed! Not only that, but he invited us for lunch twice and was constantly checking in to make sure everything was okay. His hospitality truly made our trip memorable. The villa itself was comfortable, well-equipped and super clean beds and rooms, and the stunning views of Jabal Shams added to the experience. Highly recommended!

The guest house is in a perfect location for the Balcony walk. It is on the doorstep of the start of the walk. The food we had for both meals was lovely. We were nervous about driving to the accomodation as we didn’t have a 4*4. We arranged for a transfer from Al Hamara which is 1 hour away for 50 OMR return. This was well worth it. The driver was on time and drove safely. He also pointed out some sights and stopped off at a gorgeous coffee shop en route :)

The location is very beautiful. Our cousin received us and took us on a tour of Jebel Shams. He offered us a very delicious Omani dinner and breakfast as well, and watched the sunset. The villa is a comfortable and complete villa, and any type of car can reach the villa.

What is this a hidden gem, even though I have looked through the photos on booking, I was still amazed by this house when we arrived here. It is literally at the beginning of the balcony walk so if you get up on time (we left at 7 a.m. with our two boys) then you have the walk completely to yourself. The house is amazing, very large kitchen with living room, two spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds. We bought our own food in Nizwa and made a nice dinner with salmon wraps and ate them outside by the fire place. We bought some wood from the people taking care of this house and made a fire and even bbq marshmallows. No wifi connection here but who would mind with such a beautiful view all around you. We played some board games and hanged out around the fire. House has plates, pots, cuttlery, cups and big refrigerator so comfortable enough to make your own dinner and breakfast and just enjoy the peace. It's maybe good to mention that we didn't have a 4x4 but my husband is an experienced driver and didn't have a problem driving up in our rental Hyundai car.

The staff at this resort are exceptionally friendly, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Total respect to all of them. We have stayed here a few times now and have not been disappointed at all. Dinner and breakfast were beautiful, compliments to the chefs and restaurant staff. The location is stunning too.

Amazing Location. Well behaved staffs. Food is decently good in any Sama properties i been, so here also no disappointment. Staffs are flexible & smiling. Very rustic look property, brings some authenticity into your stay. The lights looks really amazing during night, with lots of space around makes your evening walk very graceful.

The loaction and the interior ambience were excellent. We stayed in chale and the interior was excellent with an Omani village house ambience. The reception and the sorroundings were well designed and a nice place for photo shooting. For a positive note, on food and beverages, the coffee from the venting machine was excellent.

Third time staying here and we always love to come back! Super relaxed, very spacious, nicely integrated into nature and the surrounding. Everyone can relax and have fun, the staff is very friendly, and the location is perfect to explore the area. And the weather is of course amazing, huge difference in temperature compared to the rest of GCC. I also love the fact that there is no wifi as it truly means an electronic detox, for adults and children alike, which we all desperately need.

Jebel Shams Resort was the perfect place to stay in preparation for the Balcony Walk. Not fancy but an amazing location and staff were super friendly. Breakfast set is up nicely for a day’s hiking.
