This place was spectacular - the best we had in Tasmania!
We crossed over to Bruny Island in the afternoon and did the Fluted Cape walk (brilliant views but slightly more strenuous than we expected). Visited lots of other places - loved the bread fridges with excellent sourdough loaves.
In the evening we drove north to find the property - it was easy to find but be aware that the last 7km are on a gravel road.
The house has a commanding view of the bay and is very peaceful and quiet. There are various animals in the surrounding pastures and we also saw some local wildlife.
Inside, the house was basically a fully-equipped home, with everything you could want for a comfortable stay, including self-catering. The only shop on the island is a 40 minute drive away, so you would need to be organised.
My daughter enjoyed having a bath on the terrace deck, and we both loved the open fire, which had been left fully ready to be lit with a single match.
We only stayed one night, but could easily have made it longer. We walked down to the beach in the morning and were tempted to swim if it had been just a bit warmer.
Lunawanna
Offering mountain views, Loma Cottages in Lunawanna offers accommodation and barbecue facilities. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. This 4-star holiday home offers private entrance. Loma cottages sits in the sleepy town of Lunawanna, just a short drive away from the attractions of Bruny Island. The cottages are surrounded by wildlife: tons of wallabies and pademelons, echidnas and we saw a sea eagle just meters away at the nearby bay. The cottages are very well appointed and comfortable, with a great kitchen. The hosts are very friendly and professional, and they have great advice about the area and the island. I would recommend grabbing lunch at Bruny Island Premium Wines, which you can reach with a 10 minute bushwalk.

This place is DREAMY! We had an amazing time in Bruny Island; gorgeous beaches and so many amazing walks around the place. You definitely need a car, and I would consider buying groceries before heading over as the shop is a tad expensive. The retreat is stunning and has literally everything you need. 10/10. Def recommend!

This quaint cosy cottage exceeded all expectations. The location was perfect in the middle of South Bruny, close to everything. The finishing touches Rachel added of fresh eggs, bread, homemade honeycomb and jam is the cherry on top of this humble abode. If your looking for a tranquil quiet getaway, this is the place, better than perfect!. Thankyou Rachel and Ben for a fabulous holiday, you've built and provided an amazing homestay. Regards Kendall, Dave and Charlie
The whole concept of high-end eco friendly accomodation was great, Off the grid but still with comforts which make for a pleasurable experience, considering the terrible weather for the entirety of our 3 night stay.
Excellent unique style accomodation with super unique appliances with everything you need for a staycation.
Large cabin with everything that we needed. Beds and couch were comfy and having a pergola with outdoor table was a lovely addition. Location was really nice. Walking distance to local shops and beautiful, secluded beach. Adventure Bay was a great spot to base exploration of Bruny Island and Captain Cook Holiday Park was a fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend.
A Slice of Paradise perfectly describes this accommodation. It was spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The location was incredibly picturesque and peaceful. So much so that it was sad to leave after our six night stay! We saw a small pod of dolphins swim into the inlet in front of our accommodation and a seal playing just off the jetty at the end of the street.
This was perfect holiday accommodation. Central - very close to most things on Bruny Island. The owners have really thought of everything and was one of the best stays we have had as a family. We are so thankful for the cleanliness of the home. So much care has gone into it
Helpful staff, wonderful stay. Beachfront views with friendly neighbours (penguins) waddling by the carpark at night. Thanks for the great accommodation!
The accommodation was clean, and despite being newer than the earlier cabins, was none-the-less quite satisfactory. The view over the water during sunset and the next-door hotel provided as with a window view and the meal that was very nice. Remembering the Bruny Island is not necessarily a "must see" holiday resort, there is a limited opportunity indulge is major upgrades. This venue is not the Ritz but the venue was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The location was great with a very picturesque sunset on first nite. Accommodation suited our needs. Great proximity to local attractions. Food, atmosphere and staff were fantastic.. Would definitely visit again but stay longer than 2 nites-ah the serenity.
