Wonderful stay, beautiful facilities and very hospitable staff. Loved the room and the spaceous bathroom and bath. The views are great on each floor and from the balcony I could even see the Hikone castle. Wonderful sunset too. Dinner and breakfast were plenty and very tasty. Lived the sakura mousse dessert and french toast for breakfast. They also offered wine on the 10th floor and soba after onsen visit. Onsen was amazing, the outside pool had a great view straight on the lake. Stayed there about 3 hours in the evening, very relaxing. They also oranized a tranfer to Maibara eki, no stress when leaving the hotel for shinkansen. Souvenir shop.had some beautiful art, so had to grab a couple of chopaticks holders and postcards as well before leaving.

Excellent, intimate facility with extremely kind and helpful staff. Breakfast was beautifully presented. You felt completely comfortable experiencing a slice of the real Japan, but with all the modern facilities. Beautiful location near Lake Biwa in the suburbs of Kyoto .

Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is situated in Otsu, 10 km from Daigo-ji Temple, 11 km from Shoren-in Temple, as well as 11 km from Samurai Kembu Kyoto. Featuring garden and inner courtyard views, this bed and breakfast also comes with free WiFi. Kiyomizu-dera Temple is 12 km away and Mount Hiei is 14 km from the bed and breakfast. A beautiful, historical building set in the old part of Ōtsu, I spent here a night before heading to Kyōto. The staff is friendly and competent, breakfast was abundant and tasty.

A free shuttle runs to/from JR Ogoto-Onsen Station, which is a 5-minute ride away. We stayed there for two nights, and it was one of the best hotels we have been to in our life. The hotel is located approximately 20 minutes walk from the Ogotoonsen Train station. However, the hotel provides free shuttle bus service from and to the train station. Just inform them beforehand. The hotel itself is beautiful inside. But the most wonderful are the people working there - everyone, be it check-in staff, kitchen staff or service staff - went above and beyond to provide fantastic, friendly service and comfortable stay for their guests. They readily answered our inquiries and were very kind. For example, they brought us to the Sakamoto the day after our arrival so that we could take the Sakamoto Cable Car to explore the Mount Hie. We booked the Junior Suite with Open-Air Hot Spring Bath. The room is large and gorgeous, with a separate bedroom and living room. The semi-open hot spring bath had a lovely view of Lake Biwa and starry heaven at night. It is also a very quiet location, so the feeling was truly magical while bathing at night. All necessary amenities are provided: Toothbrushes, hair and body products, several yukatas in our size and great tea and coffee. Our room booking also included dining in a private room with a several-course menu. This brings us to the next point: The food. The chef and the other kitchen staff are true artists. The unique kaiseki style meals, be it breakfast or dinner, were always presented elegantly. The fresh and generous meals represented the very best of the best of Japanese Omi region cuisine and were absolutely delicious. Many compliments to the staff! What’s not to like… we had the best room in the ryokan, super spacious room, had a huge bathroom, shower and a private open air onsen. We had a living room and a bedroom, the space we had was probably bigger than our apartment back home! Dinner and breakfast was beautifully presented, I literally was so relaxed I lost myself there. Wish I booked it for more than one night!
