Sorya guesthouse was absolutely perfect for my stay in Kratie! The rooms are spacious and light-filled. They each have a sweet little terrace, either looking out at the garden or the Mekong. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The restaurant on the top floor is wonderful - both the western and khmer dishes! I also did one of their kayak dolphin tours and can highly recommend it. The guide is incredibly knowledgeable and so generous in sharing information about the Mekong. He also was very attentive, looking back every 10 seconds or so to make sure I was following correctly and feeling ok in my kayak. The wind/current can be intense so be prepared for some intense kayaking but know it is well worth it.

He continued to assist even 2 days after I had left. Lots of hammocks to relax in and a fan in each room. The dormitory is partitioned between each bed with bamboo screens and curtains across the front. There is a locking drawer in the side table for valuables.Breakfast was delicious and very fresh. Toilet and shower areas were immaculate at all times. The Mekong River is across the road, so be sure to catch a sunset. Bicycles available to rent to get into town.

An excellent guesthouse in the heart of a small village on the banks of the Mekong. The room is spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning and fans, and offers a beautiful view of the river. Everything is very clean and pleasant. The hosts take great care of the rooms. The hosts are very friendly and sociable people, always happy to help, give advice, and share stories about local life and customs. On the ground floor, the hosts run a small restaurant where you can find delicious food for every taste, including Western options.

I cannot say enough good things about Mr. Sok and his family. They were so kind and welcoming to their home. It’s a true homestay where you live and eat with the family. The local village tour that he runs was amazing. We got to see so many things that you would miss without a local guide. He said for him it’s not a tour, it’s just going to visit his friends. The veggie noodle soup for breakfast was my favorite.
