Due to Europa League Final Bilbao was very busy including trying to get taxis and Uber. The host arranged for us to be picked up from the airport and taken to the apartment. They arranged a surprise for us as well Apartment was clean had all the mod cons we needed, they arranged food and drink as we were arriving late. Apartment is conveniently located east access to the airport, or to get a bus, the metro or an Uber into Bilbao.

An amazing place to stay — I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bilbao! First of all, the location is excellent: it’s very close to the metro station and situated in a quiet residential area, which feels very safe. Secondly, the house is incredibly clean — you can literally see the floor shine. My friend and I both agreed this is the cleanest place we’ve ever stayed in. Even the bathroom was spotless, and the bed in the room was very comfortable. The shared space on the ground floor is also well-designed, with a cozy living room and a large terrace. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped too. Most importantly, the host is extremely friendly and helpful. He provided all the check-in details carefully, communicated patiently, and made it clear that we should contact him if we encounter any problems. All in all, this is truly a fantastic place to stay. Five stars from me!

Bilbao is a lovely town.
Bilbao is a lovely town. Friendly, calm. I liked climbing the hills around it. The Old Town is good if you like pintxos and the busy touristy sort of atmosphere. The river is the focus of the town and, of course, the Guggenheim. It is worth going up the funicular and checking out the area at the top. The Extebarria Park was my favourite place. And you can find good coffee in Bilbao!

A great neighbourhood to experience authentic life in another country and culture. Weekends are festive in the area with lots of activity at the local bars and cafes. Not many tourists around though... more elderly population noticeable.

A very nice and clean city. The Old Town was very busy during the evenings, with plenty of bars and Pintxos places to eat. Did the 2 hour boat trip but it wasn't very interesting (loads of views of derelict buildings and industry!). Did the Hop Hop Off bus tour which was good to get a quick view of the city. Did a Pintxos and drinks organised evening tour of 5 bars in the Old Town and would highly recommend it (thanks, Irene!). Visited the outside of the Guggenheim Museum but not being a modern art fan, didn't think it was worth spending £25 to visit inside, Would suggest that 4/5 days max is needed to see everything.

Maybe we are not the Traveller looking at all sites, but we want to feel the life! We enjoyed the expressions in terms of banners, posters etc and thus we were glued rather to old town or the immediate area opposite. 2-3 days for same is sufficient. However, do not skip the hanging bridge closest to port. Definitely worth the metro ride!

Great city, of course the Guggenheim is a must, but the city has lots of other things to offer. Great food everywhere for fair prices, lots of specialties and the little snacks that Spain is famous for.
