Located 11 miles (17 kilometres) from central Helsinki in the city of Vantaa, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is the main international gateway to Finland and the busiest airport in the country. There are two direct train connections from Helsinki Airport to the city centre, I-train and P-train, departing every 10 minutes. You can also take the 615 bus or the Finnair City Bus to Helsinki Railway Station, running every 30 minutes.

Vantaa was a good place to stay out of Helsinki with much reasonable prices. The aviation museum is a must see and spent half a day there. The mall near the hotel was very good and spent a whole day there. We used Vantaa as a break between trips but would spend more time in future.

Excellent location, in the city, but still very peaceful and quiet. Woke up to bird song! Went for morning runs on the riverside and through fields - and then took the 15-minute trainride to Helsinki city centre. Great!

Helsinki is a nice city, everyone will find something to visit there. From museums I recommend Ateneum (Art Museum) and Kiasma (Modern Art). For shopping Kamppi, Stockmann, Sokos, and Forum.Try reindeer steak at Ravintola Lasipalatsi. If there are concerts on your dates, visit Musiikkitalo. The purpose of my visit was Figure skating Grand Prix Finlandia Trophy at the Ice Hall. Public transport is quite expensive - a 1.5 hour ticket costs 3.20 euros if purchased from the ticket machine and 3.40 if paid on the tram / bus.

Our primary reason for Vantaa was our need to be at the airport very early. The public transport runs super efficiently.
We bussed into central Helsinki using 2 routes and both were excellent. Bus stops literally outside the apartment block.
The train station is a brisk 10 minute walk away and again super service for Helsinki, the airport or connections to wider Finland..
Locally there's a a couple big supermarkets too.

Very happy I got to experience smaller tourist attractions like the cathedral, moomin shop, hesburger and fazer cafés, as well as going to the book fair and visiting Tripla and the Forum malls. But I also got to experience a 4D movie, karaoke, and going to a concert at the ice hall.
Getting used to taking the tram in a different country was no problem at all, just used the HSL app for my tickets and took any tram I needed. The locals are also very nice (if you get lost they will happily help).
Overall very happy with my trip, could have been longer.

At this time of year, late April, some of the tourist options dont operate as you might expect aka Hop on/off bus isnt that until into May, (convenient Tourist information at Senate Square in the City Centre. )Olympic Museum may be of interest but wont take that long to look round. Seems if you want the Salmon Soup you had better think about that early on a cold day - initially looks expensive but the pictures show large chunks of fish. Lake Tuulusa can be reached by bus from Kervo rail station - had as short stay there. Harbour boat trip was chilly so went inside after halfhour.

Helsinki is a beautiful city. I have been during the summer time multiple times and now during November. It has different weather in November and even shorter days but still a beautiful charm. Immerse yourself with the culture and always treat the Finn's noice and you will end up having a nice conversation and enjoy their beautiful city!
Try the salmon soup at Kappeli on the Esplanade.

my friend and I spent four nights at HEL, 2 nights at Bob and 2 nights in another four star hotel.
I would say, 10 is not enough to score Bob: best location, best staff, best facility.
I would definitely choose Bob again when in HEL or other cities!
