My little modern apartment was perfect for the 2 days I was there. It had everything I needed: mini kitchen, laundry and even a private balcony! Just down the street a block is an intersection with some restaurants (fancier and fast food), a convenience store, tabac, pharmacy, and boulangerie. It's like a mini town with a little bit of everything. And there are many bus lines servicing the area so it was easy for me to get to the Gare Avignon and Avignon TGV stations.

Not only was the bed really really comfortable but the pool enabled me to cool down in the 38 degree temperature. Just around the corner from Saint-Remy-de-Provence, it is a fantastic stop on the way from North to South.

There was an extremely high cost to use the pool and spa.

There was an extremely high cost to use the pool and spa. This was not evident when booking. Also a ridiculously $$$ amount for vandalism tax which is refundable but an extreme measure since the hotel is not even in the city of Avignon. But still there is a city tax. On the plus side there were options for dining out not far from the hotel.

There is nothing special to see at Le Thor, except "la...

There is nothing special to see at Le Thor, except "la grotte de Thouzon" and the Castle. The price of the drinks in the bars was a bit high and the quality not so good. Even at the open market, I saw that the prices are high. Thankfully it is located at 15 minutes from Isle-sur-Sorgue and Pernes-Les-Fontaines which are more beautiful places to visit and it is also at 30 minutes from Avignon.

If you like medieval villages, history and stunning...

If you like medieval villages, history and stunning architecture, you will love Avignon. The city is beautiful, good food abounds, and the train station allows quick access to many surrounding towns. Trips to beautiful L'Isle sur la Sorgue, Arles, and other Provencal towns are easy to plan and get to. For those traveling without a car, I highly recommend a guided tour to some of the outlying areas where you can get a fill of Roman ruins and stunning scenes/villages. Hard to list one favorite, but tiny Le Beaux was breathtaking.

quite a good spot to take a trip to Avignon-City, (close to motorway, 10 min to a free public parking "les italiens") but totally quiet (no noise from the motorway) bonne cuisine du soir, rich buffet for breakfast in a sunny Wintergarde-style restaurant receptionist Angelique was really so !

The city of Avignon, a legendary city, disappointed me with its state. The surrounding area was filled with fords, dilapidated, neglected houses, and facades. Homeless people, etc. The condition of churches and sacred buildings reflects the effects of the genocidal French Revolution in the 1790s. Church furnishings were destroyed, graves desecrated, and numerous priests and nobles murdered. Barbarism was utterly utter.

Avignon (voice recognition spelled it out as, Open yawn but it is hsrdly that) is one of the few cities that still has its medieval walls.Intact the number of one way streets and blocked off areas for pedestrian's zones will drive you to distractiont but it is perfect for walking. Beautiful river outside the walls and a much larger modern part of Avignon lies to the north and east. Lively night scene with people out socializing well after dark. There was a free shuttle bus that ran a loop from near the train stallation. Its route took you around the western corner of the city. I and several others just rode it just to see what there was to say. I do not know if that is something special for when I was there or if it goes on year round.
