16 East Street Sandwick Stornoway, a property with a garden, is situated in Sandwick, 2.7 km from Tràigh Thunga Beach, 29 km from Callanish Standing Stones, as well as 3.6 km from Museum Nan Eilean. The parking at the house was very nice and secure. The layout was very nice too. There were 2 bathrooms, the kitchen was nice and well supplied, and the living room was very comfy too! There was one bedroom downstairs and 2 more upstairs. Even though we just had 2 staying here, this would be a great place for 2-3 couples or a family. The wi-fi was good and easy to connect to. The road in front of the house could get loud at times, but it did not interrupt our sleep at all. The drive to town was easy and quick and the drive to the ferry was about 5 minutes as well. This was a nice place and we will plan on staying here again when back in the area.

Stunning part of the world. So much more to see than we had time for, a week would have been amazing! Beckett's do a fab breakfast, not many other places open before 9am. Some fab wee gift shops, especially enjoyed the Art Gallery, The Christian Bookshop, The Baltic Bookshop, Hebridean Tweed and Delights.
Book your meals in Stornoway in advance, busy even on a Tuesday. Also make sure you don't try to pack too many activities into one day, if using local buses. They can be few and far between, although they arrived as per timetables. Boatshed good place to eat and drink. Thai cafe also nice food but no alcohol licence, so take your own bottle.
Stornoway is a compact town, with good local pubs and restaurants. Lews Castle and its grounds and museum is well worth a visit. I also went to a folk music concert at the An Lanntair theatre which was excellent (I also enjoyed a pre- show meal there in its Thai Cafe). The whole island of Lewis & Harris is stunning and magical.
Sandwick was pretty quiet but it was just outside of Stornoway which was good enough for us as the property was nice and cosy. Most of the sights we went to see was out with sandwick, more stornoway and further afield. So I’m not reviewing sandwick. The property location was fine for us to travel to and from what we wanted to see
Stornoway is an interesting little town with Lews castle and grounds well worth a visit. It is a very good starting point to explore some of the island-places to visit include Callanish standing stones, the Black House, the Black House village and the broch, all of which are on the one road that leads directly out of Stornoway. There is also Harris to visit and famous and stunning beaches, but we ran out of time !
This review is more about Lewis and Harris, Sandwick is a small suburb of Stornaway. It has an interesting memorial to HMS Iolaire. We spent 4 nights on the island. Although the weather was pretty awful, the island is lovely and we spent a fair bit of time touring Lewis and Harris. The Butt of Lewis is nice and there is a lovely walk to Eoropie bay with lovely sandy beach. We are interested in birds and found Red necked Phalorope, GND, Red throated Diver, Golden Eagle, Guillemots, Fulmars etc. Take the drive across Pentland Road it is lovely and good for birds. Sadly we didn't really have raptor weather (lots of rain). Stornaway is a bit limited - if you want to dine out book well ahead as there aren't many places and they fill up quickly. We enjoyed the Boatshed at the Royal Hotel for dinner. EVERYTHING closes on Sunday (including most of the petrol stations so beware).
