Our hosts helped us to find the location because it was a little hard to find, but it was perfectly situated within walking distance to the airport for our departure the next morning. Located in Catania and only 1.9 km from Lido Arcobaleno, Diletta house provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. Great location. Close to airport and buses going to pretty much all towns in Sicily. Really clean and aesthetic, even more so considering Sicilian standards. Friendly host. Funny location (it's a little home next to a home of an actual Italian family). Rather clean, calm and safe neighbourhood (compared to the rest of Catania). Dilleta itself was also spacious, modern, had bedroom, bathroom and big living room mixed with kitchen. There was also no cockroaches, bedbugs and other insects (unlike in other accomodations in Catania). Really - it's all you need for a few days trip. Definitely worth the price too. Oh and the bed - holy crap. I've never slept in a more comfortable bed. There's also high quality AC in bedroom.

Le Dune Sicily Hotel is only 2 km away from the city centre of Catania. It lies in an enchanting place between the golden sand of "de La Plaia" beach and a beautiful small Maritime pine forest. The hotel was amazing — super clean, cozy, and had a beautiful view.
Catania is a very busy town offering many sights and dynamical lifestyle. From the early hours of the markets, to sightseeing and nightlife. It is well connected via a motorway to other sightseeing facilities like Syracuse, Etna and Taormina. Many great eating and shopping options. The only things is that there is lot of littering - and the municipal waste company is not just doing its work. If you compare it to extremely clean Taormina this can look in some parts like a garbage dumb. And the car culture and the drivers - well it is very specific :)
Catania is beautiful- seeped in history and legends streets are heavily graffitied on the ground levels , but you get used to that, and some of the grafitti is beautiful. I would recommend a tour-we did e-bike tour which was fantastic (shell travel agency) Anya was a great guide. She showed us places (cave restaurant and amphitheater) that we would never have otherwise known about. I would definatly recommend the cave restaurant- but it needs to be booked A Putia dell'Ostello is its name. we booked on the same day no problem I would definitely recommend a visit to Taormina - we went on the train- quick, easy and reasonable (£11 each return) lovely stay- lovely place- advise travel on October time for less tourists, and cooler weather
Downtown dramatically changed since I was living there years ago. At the time the "Pescheria" was a bustling place for the local community with the best fish market in Italy and lively, authentic local watering holes. Now, it's just another tourist trap where most fishermen and fresh produce stalls have been replaced with general purpose bars and restaurants, not fun anymore. You find the same things in Venice or Prague or just anywhere.
Catania Deserves More Love! Catania is definitely underrated, many travelers overlook it, but there’s so much to enjoy here. The city offers a mix of rich history, vibrant nightlife, hidden piazzas, and excellent cuisine with plenty of great places to eat. We stumbled upon wine tasting events, explored charming corners, and soaked in the local vibe. Yes, the traffic can be chaotic (even by Eastern European standards 😄), and the cleanliness could be improved - watch your step on the sidewalks! But overall, Catania has a unique energy that makes it worth visiting. I’d love to spend more time in Sicily, and Catania in particular - it really surprised me in the best way.
Majestic and historically unique city of mysterious Sicily! This very city may attract and passel your curiosity with a variety of facades, images, contrasting with a decent locals and something else. City flows with abandon roads of modern and hysterical buildings, mixing with exquisite fashion ateliers and the cutes private souvenirs’s shops. at the same time you can see that there are many baggers in the area together with the street skilled musicians and painters that are trying to just get by day by day. A mixture of feelings, perhaps, what it worth to experience together with a magical Etna and the history that still needs to be revealed.
I really liked Catania, although I think I would spend a bit less time there if I visited again. The restaurants and bars are great, and I loved that you can walk to almost everything — the city is very easy to explore on foot. Prices are reasonable as well. One of the highlights was being able to visit Mount Etna from Catania. Just make sure you know the exact protocol in advance, especially regarding bus schedules and buying tickets early enough. With a bit of planning, it’s definitely worth it. Overall, the city is lovely, but I would have preferred to spend more time exploring other places as well. The bus and train connections are excellent, so I never missed having a rental car — in fact, I wouldn’t rent one at all because the public transport works so well.
