Catania (0.1 miles from Catania Fontanarossa Airport)
Set in Catania, 2.3 km from Lido Arcobaleno, Fontanarossa Airport Sleep and Travel offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and express check-in and check-out. Stayed the night before a 6am flight so I chose it for the location. Federica and Martina were wonderful hosts and very helpful. Airport is a short walk but we didn’t want to walk with all our luggage at 4am, so they organized an early morning shuttle for us - we hitch came right on time. The studio apt is clean and cute. The apt is behind a wood gate, but because it’s located on the main road into the airport, there is a bit of traffic noise at night—but not too bad. If you need a place to stay close to the airport, I highly recommend it.

Located in Catania and only 1.9 km from Lido Arcobaleno, Diletta house provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. Great location. Close to airport and buses going to pretty much all towns in Sicily. Really clean and aesthetic, even more so considering Sicilian standards. Friendly host. Funny location (it's a little home next to a home of an actual Italian family). Rather clean, calm and safe neighbourhood (compared to the rest of Catania). Dilleta itself was also spacious, modern, had bedroom, bathroom and big living room mixed with kitchen. There was also no cockroaches, bedbugs and other insects (unlike in other accomodations in Catania). Really - it's all you need for a few days trip. Definitely worth the price too. Oh and the bed - holy crap. I've never slept in a more comfortable bed. There's also high quality AC in bedroom.

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a terrace, B&B temptation airport fontanarossa shared house with several rooms is located in Catania. We stayed here after our late-night arrival in Catania, and it was a great decision. The location is perfect — just a 10-minute walk from the airport. It took us a moment to find the entrance, but check-in was easy thanks to their online system. The interior had a unique and interesting design, definitely not your average B&B. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious and fully equipped. We really appreciated the small touches — there was food waiting for us for a late dinner or early breakfast, and a coffee machine to start the morning right. Communication with the host was great — she was helpful and kind throughout. Overall, it’s a great stop for travelers flying in or out of Catania

Le Dune Sicily Hotel is only 2 km away from the city centre of Catania. It lies in an enchanting place between the golden sand of "de La Plaia" beach and a beautiful small Maritime pine forest. Private beach access and pool nearby are always good. There is a lot of parking space.
We went on the trip to Etna, we had a trip by boat a long the cost, we went to the botanic garden, we visit a the animals zoo museum, we had been on the beach, We had every evening different restaurant with Italian dish for the dinner, and also plenty of very tasty pistachio desserts. We mostly walked around the and town of Catania, and was very easy to reach everywhere by foot.
The city centre was interesting and rich of history. The beaches and services there were poor. The streets were narrow with many neglected buildings. The traffic presents many hazards due to aggressive and bullying motorcycle and scooters riders. Try not to drive or ride in Catania traffic. Catania all in all is not inviting place for tourists.
The place is filthy. Streets full of rubbish. Graffiti on most of the buildings, Some buildings look abandoned, then you see people coming out of them. I don't know how they live there. It's a pity since they are so antique. Would be beautiful if cared for. Not to mention the people. They try to rip you off all the time. Especially taxi drivers. Tourists need to be super cautious. And the traffic is horrible. You have to pay attention how you cross the road even though you are on a zebra crossing. They keep driving no matter what. If you go to the beach you get annoyed by the multiple individuals trying to sell you something or even give you a message. They don't leave you in peace. Two restaurants we loved were Cafe/Restaurant Duomo and D.O.C. Nice food and atmosphere. I highly reccomend. There are nice places for shopping too. Via Etnea full of shops, porte Di Catania and centro Sicilia excellent spots. I reccomend Etnapolis and Etnaland too. There is an awsome open air market everyday not to be missed. Not to mention Etna, a must go.
Lovely Architecture, Vibrant atmosphere, Great food, lots of choice. Locals friendly, Really enjoyed my time there. Went on a day trip to Taormina I also did the Mountain Etna tour, but due to my arthritis I could not do the final trek, but I had a lovely time at the Etna Village, had lunch and went shopping at the lovely little shops there before going back on the bus to Catania.😊👍🏻
Having planned just an overnight in the city, our group agreed that we would recommend just heading out to explore Sicily and skip Catania altogether; it was not worth all the aggravation getting back and forth from the airport. Very dirty city, the few attractions weren't that exciting, and we enjoyed other areas of the island much more. The buses weren't remotely running on time and we finally just got an Uber to get back to the airport for our rental car.
This is a city was a walkable historic center with lots of sites to visit. It is easy to take the train for day trips to Taormina and other towns. I enjoyed a Viator sunset excursion to a lava tube and trek up Mount Etna.
