Wonderful hosts who helped us a lot when we misplaced our car key...Warren and Joweline are extremely nice, witty and caring folks, by talking to Warren you learn more about NZ than you could ever read in a guidebook.
Highly recommended place!

We loved it.
We loved it. The grandkids loved the playground by the mall area. We had a great time at the Goldmine experience and fully recommend this as they were very informative and something different to see. Everything was close by with ample parking which made it easier to get around. Wea made our meals although meal delivery is possible. The ocean is also close. Would love to come back to Thames at some point

Nice and peaceful, although you can hear some road traffic.
Nice and peaceful, although you can hear some road traffic. Nothing much in Hikutaia itself, but only a 10 minute drive to Paeroa with lots of food options, and about 30- 40 minute drive out to the wonderful walks, waterfall and abandoned mining ruins in the karangahake gorge. Also nice and dark at night for star-gazing

I enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing stay at kotare cabin.
I enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing stay at kotare cabin. Nestled amongst the birds and native trees with an outstanding view of the beach, the cottage breathed relaxation. A perfect spot to refresh and recharge, I thoroughly enjoyed bathing in the outdoor tub and indulged my sense with the delightful array of soaps, salts and lotions. I felt the cabin had a wonderful private and secluded feel even with the town just below. The drive across the bridge/ford and into the tranquil area where kotare cabin sat made it feel like a real adventure into the natural New Zealand wilderness then emerged to the exposed beach views which extended from the front deck of the cabin. Walking into the cabin the sweet and refreshing smell of the natural exposed wood completed the masterpiece. From the lovely stained glass window, the incredible views, great facilities, to the relaxing tub outside, everything about kotare cabin filled my senses so pleasantly. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay

The facilities are top notch. The view is incredible, the garden and ground are lovely. We enjoyed our stay and would be back without a question.
The road up to the accommodation is a unique but wonderful once there. We found take out food and brought it back so that we could enjoy the patio in front of our room.

Earthbridge is a gem of a rural hideaway.
Earthbridge is a gem of a rural hideaway. The hosts, Tim and could not have been more hospitable and the breakfast provisions were outstanding.
All toiletries, kitchen equipment etc is provided and we often lit the fire outside to heat and enjoy the outdoor bath under the stars.
Our hosts showed us the best swimming holes and nearby walks.
Earth ridge is currently off grid but that may change soon.

Lovely sleepy area, lots of natural sites and experiences in a walkable distance. Right in the middle of Thames and Coromandel townships so a great base for exploring. If you are a confident driver, the Tapu Coroglen Rd takes you to the totally different beaches and experiences on the other side.

oh useless people. A Chinese Take away shop , Dragone name was really awful food and behaviour . The lady almost wanted to fight with all her body to me . Rusty lady .another local lady also around the area , I parked my car was so unusual . She came around my car and banged to my window then started fighting . Not a normal city and I never had this kind of experiences anywhere . God Bless these people

View was stunning.
View was stunning. Felt a bit like a nuisance turning up for our booking, as if we weren’t expected. Room was clean and pleasant but had no opening windows except a very small one on top of the shower box, which could only be reached by a tall person standing on a chair. Access is very steep. Nevertheless a reasonably pleasant stay.
