We were initially doubting to book due to a false comment of bathroom privacy issue, but we took chances and had a lovely stay, bathroom/shower is separated with locking mechanism from both sides. Host is super friendly, and greets/welcomes from Jetty, and even from Airport offers pickup service, which feels like home. We broke a glass accidently and they were cool about it too. Very accommodating, always at service to take us around as historical alleys there don't show up in Maps. We will return for sure.

Banana Shamba Estate ligt in Lamu, op 6 minuten lopen van Manda Beach en 300 meter van Mnarani House. De accommodatie biedt gratis WiFi, een tuin met een barbecue en uitzicht op de bergen. Appartement was werkelijk voorzien van alles, keukengerei enz. Omdat de douche geen druppel warm water gaf kregen we een kamer in het Banana house inclusief een ontbijt

Lovely and amazingly beautiful decored 2-bedroom apartment. Very spacious and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff, always there to help, Faith and Martin made our stay comfortable.

Beytsalaam Apartments is gelegen in Lamu, op 1 minuten lopen van 18th Century Swahili House Museum en biedt accommodatie met airconditioning, gratis WiFi, en toegang tot een terras. The air conditioning in the bedroom was fantastic. It was a huge bedroom with closet space, lots of room to put your stuff, and a large ensuite bathroom. The location was great, right on the waterfront, close to water taxis, etc. The staff were so friendly and were always there if you needed them. After check out, they called to inform us we left a few things in the room, we left them on purpose, but it was nice to get a follow-up call.

My first impression of Deuli House's wonderfulness was Chuie, the manager, who picked us up at the airport and provided us with useful information on Lamu City and Shela. The Deuli House itself is a spectacular example of Swahili-Arabic architecture, with a riyad-style central fountain in a light well extending 3 stories high. Beautifully handcrafted wood furniture decorate the living area. An antique dhow sail billows from the top of the light well to the ground floor exaggerating the building's height. The garden is large, and green with HUGE giant oyster shells where the turtles shelter from the sun. In addition to the breathtaking architecture, Chef Chengo and his assistant Michael, act like your personal chef and waiter. Peilo (sp?) the household help, created a beautiful bed of flowers as a welcome and keeps the accommodations spotless. The meals were amazing, the rooms are spacious, and the service, impeccable. The mosque is nearby, so we were shocked at 5am for prayers. It is located close to Peponi Hotel and magnificent soft sandy beaches which unfortunately we didn't have enough time to walk around. Also missed sailing at sunset in a dhow boat because of inclement weather...bummed...need to return.
