Super good location, not in the city center but at walking distance if you like walking and only 5 min drive if you have a car. The access to the lagoon is perfect as it's towards the end of the lagoon, quite close to the Cocalitos cenote but not on the Cenote so the water is clear and shallow. Free kayak that's amazing, you can cross to the Birds Isle. Breakfast is correct for such a small hotel. Hotel with only a few rooms so it's not crowded and atmosphere is super relax. Lovely reception staff, friendly, smiling. Cocktails are nice and affordable. I had passion fruit margarita. Food is nice and affordable. We tried camarones it was delicious.

Excellent check in service, very friendly. Super furnishings and decor. Comfortable beds. The pool was a bonus. About 10km out of town but perfect for a quiet and peaceful stay and a straight easy road to get into town as long as you have your own car.

We stayed at Habitas Bacalar for five days and absolutely loved every moment. The property is a dream — stunning surroundings, beautiful design, and a serene atmosphere that made it impossible not to relax. We arrived very early, 6am and the hotel were very accommodating and provided us a room straight away. We had booked a room with sea view. The wi-fi was not working upon arrival and shortly after checking in we were offered a room on a different floor, the WiFi was working on that floor but the view from the room was amazing. I woke every morning to watch the sunrise during our three day stay there. I would definitely recommend a room with view of the lagoon. See attached pictures of sunrise. The staff have a basic grasp of English and it was more than my Spanish but they were very helpful and where we couldn't understand each other we used Google translate. We had meals in the restaurant, the menu was changed whilst we were there and compared to other places nearby the cost was slightly cheaper. There is a small pool and some seating by the lagoon, it was nice to sit by the lagoon and watch the boats go by and also there was a bit of a breeze there. It was very hot and humid during our stay so the breeze was much welcomed. Our room was a good size, we had two double beds. The air-conditioning was much needed at some times to cool down and worked well. There is a smart tv although we didn't really use this much during our stay. Taxi was arranged for us to go to the bus station when we were leaving. Overall really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, it was a 20 minute walk to where we had arranged a boat trip of the lagoon and less than ten minutes by taxi to a supermarket. Highly recommend and would not hesitate to stay if we visited again.
