We stayed for a couple of nights as we were attending a wedding in nearby Thursford, but that was enough to feel how special Bert is. He does not just run a bed and breakfast, he shares his house with his guests and goes the extra mile to make you feel at home. Besides, the breakfast spread was amazing.

What an amazing home. Unlike any other we have stayed in. Much loved, antique furniture, armchairs by the fireside looking like old friends to welcome you with a cosy hug. Beautiful still life artwork and photographs on every wall. Musical instruments and the sound of a young boy practising the piano. Our room was large with such a comfortable bed, I had the best sleep, waking up too late to take a shower, so unable to comment on that. Justin looked after us really well, leaving us a bottle of wine to finish when we got in. Breakfast was continental style, so he booked us into The Black Lion five minutes walk away for a good cooked breakfast.

The staff were brilliant. Very friendly and attentive. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was delicious. They catered for gluten free. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean and a powerful shower. We could park for free in the car park right outside our room.
