It feels incredibly authentic. For anyone staying here, I'd just say trust the process, the host is the sweetest little old man who hosts really fun karaoke evenings. It wasn't what we expected going into it but this place gave us some great laughs and memories for life.

The hostel was great! Very convenient location, a short walk from the station. Shared showers and toilets were spotless! There is also a full kitchen and a lounge, as well as a really great roof terrace. We were allowed to leave out bags before check-in and after check-out, which allowed us to be very flexible.

we love everything about the property. The owner was super hospitable. Going above and beyond making sure our stay was memorable. Chicken hotpot was superb and certainly warm the stomachs and hearts. House is opposite Lake Ashi and in the morning, Mount Fuji can be seen very clearly.

Our stay at the Rustic Retreat was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had with any accommodation. 🌟 Our host went above and beyond: he picked us up at the train station, drove us to his favorite restaurant, and had prepared the most beautiful room for us.
