We recently enjoyed a truly wonderful weekend getaway at Summerfields House in Hastings, and we cannot speak highly enough of our experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by Ian and Fiona, whose friendly and attentive hosting made all the difference. Our room was beautifully maintained and comfortable — spotlessly clean, with great attention to detail and those little touches that make a stay feel special. Despite visiting in November (brisk seaside air and early dusk included!), the house was cosy, well-heated and very inviting, so we felt utterly relaxed. Breakfast each morning was a delight – fresh, plentiful, and beautifully presented. Ian and Fiona were always on hand with helpful local tips (where to stroll, where to find a good coffee, interesting historic corners of Hastings), which really enhanced our stay and made us feel at home rather than simply guests. The location is ideal: close enough to the seafront and old town to wander down easily, yet tucked away so the evenings were peaceful. On our walks we appreciated being able to return to the calm of the house for a quiet read or a drink. Throughout our stay the service was unfussy but consistently excellent. Ian and Fiona struck the perfect balance of warm hospitality without being overbearing — they were simply there when you needed them, and otherwise allowed total freedom to relax. They clearly take real pride in making Summerfields House such a welcoming place. In short: if you’re looking for a charming, well-run guest house in Hastings for a November break (or any time of year), you couldn’t do better than Summerfields House, and we’ll most certainly return.
