At the guest house, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Great location. Nicely tucked away from the road amongst the forest. Lots of birds including jungle fowl to watch from the patio. Walk in from the road via a pathway. They met us to help carry our bags. Dinner was traditional Sri Lankan curry - vegetarian or chicken. Followed by yoghurt and fruit for dessert. Plenty of food, not spicy and was yummy. Other options for dinner were fried rice or vegetable noodles. Breakfast was packed for us for the following day safari. 2 egg sandwiches, a banana, yoghurt and water. Sufficient for the half day. The best part is the very close lake and dirt road. We went for a walk with binoculars and saw deer, langurs, crocodile, hornbills and lots of other birds and lizards too. A much better, slower paced experience and one not to miss. We booked a half day tour with the host. In hindsight we would have booked a different tour. Pillows weren't overly comfortable but was OK for 1 night.

There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Every room has a terrace with views of the garden. Kalhara made our stay perfect. He organized wonderful tours (safari, temples, dance show), and her wife prepared amazing breakfast and dinner! Everyday we had a different menu, always good and with Sri Lankan delicacies. The room was huge, spotless clean, with a very comfortable bed. The garden is beautiful, with palm trees and flowers, with a nice patio where we relaxed before dinner.. We had also a very nice walk close to the lake and ricefields, from the road in front of the hotel. We strongly recommend Swan lake to everyone wants to enjoy Habarana area

At the bed and breakfast, every unit has bed linen and towels. The owners, Leo and Wanda, couldn’t do enough to help our stay go smoothly. They helped shape are itinerary and suggestions additions that were fantastic, eg Sri Lankan dance show at the cultural centre, organising a fabulous yoga teacher, as well as great safari. Relaxed and happy vibe to the place with lovely pool area.

Great, honest service. Host (Ruwan) works hard to accommodate any need/request and makes great recommendations for local tours/attractions. We especially enjoyed the cultural dance and the (free!) local spice tour. Breakfast and overall vibe were great! This eco-lodge is next to the jungle, expect to be right up with nature, which is part of the experience!

At the guest house, all units are allergy-free and soundproof. Staying at Sweet Home Tourist Rest turned out to be one of the best decisions we made on our trip to Sri Lanka. It’s rare to find a place that offers both great value and a truly personal touch , but this one does exactly that. Instead of just a room, we had an entire private apartment, including a comfortable living room, which gave us so much space to relax. It was quiet, clean, and located in a peaceful part of town, making it easy to rest and recharge between our adventures. And considering the price, it felt like an absolute steal. What really made this stay unforgettable were the authentic experiences arranged by the hosts. Nilukshan helped us explore some of Sri Lanka’s most iconic sites with thoughtfully organized tours, the Wilpattu safari was stunning, and our visits to Anuradhapura and Mihintale gave us a deep appreciation for the country’s culture and history. Everything was well-timed, smooth, and stress-free. We also had the chance to join a Sri Lankan cooking class with Malsha, which ended up being one of our favorite memories. The class was fun, hands-on, and filled with flavor, we left not just with full stomachs, but with recipes and techniques we can take home with us. If you’re looking for more than just a place to sleep, if you want comfort, authenticity, and connection this is the place. Can’t recommend it highly enough!

Featuring an open-air bath and views of quiet street, Rock Villa Relax City Resort is a recently renovated bed and breakfast located in Mihintale, 13 km from Anuradhapura Railway Station. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and a shared kitchen, along with free WiFi throughout the property. There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. I booked one night to see sunrise at Mihintale Rock, and I stayed 2 more because I enjoyed the place so much. The host, Kapila, is a former tour guide with expert knowledge of the area and its history; he and his family will welcome you with big smiles, fun conversation, tips on navigating Mihintale and Anuradhapura, and delicious meals. I highly recommend using the villa as your base for exploring Mihintale’s many sites (walkable from the villa) and for taking a 30-minute bus or tuk tuk to Anuradhapura. Pro tip: do NOT miss sunrise at Mihintale Rock/Temple Complex, sunset at Rajagiri Caves, a meditative walk through Kaludiya Pokuna, and a nighttime bike ride to the many holy sites of Anuradhapura.
