There was a bit of basement type of smell on the stairs outside the apartment, but that was the extent of it. The apartment itself is very nice, modern, renovated, all furniture is nice and the bathroom is really clean. We were also happy with the wi-fi, which was used quite heavily by our family. What's best however about this location is it's proximity to the Mikulov Castle and it's surroundings. It takes just a couple of minutes to walk to the castle's park main entrance and you can have lunch along the way in Fallout themed bistro. As we were only staying in Mikulov on our way to Croatia, we didn't have much time to sightsee. The fact that both in the afternoon and in the morning we could just walk out and enjoy some food and sights without a long walk or travel, was very nice. The town and the apartment are also right next to the route 52, so you're not adding any distance to your travel, if you're on your way to Croatia. We were very satisfied.

One from the main road and one from the top of the hill. Our parking lot was at the top entrance wich was a bit difficult to find, but the owner gave good instructions

The apartment was in fact an entire floor of an old house in the small historic center of the town, and was enormous - the kitchen/dining room and the living room could both easily fit more than 10 people. The beds were good, the bathroom clean and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The town is small, so you can walk everywhere (shops, cafes, restaurant). Mikulov has a very good location on the road from the north to Vienna, worth staying for the night but also to visit the region - especially the vineyards in the season!
