I truly loved everything about Mario Lakeside. The location is peaceful and beautiful, right by the lake — perfect for relaxing. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. What made this place special is the heart behind it. The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

Dong a été un hôte incroyablement gentil, il m’a donné pleins de conseils sur les choses à visiter sur l’île, il a été ultra conciliant sur le Check out ! La chambre était spacieuse confortable, et la terrasse avec vue sur le lac est top ! Une guesthouse a ne pas louper ! Merci bcp

Best thing about this hotel are the views. Once you open the door of your room, you’re greeted by an impressive view of Lake Toba. It appears to be a new hotel, so the room and furnishings were new and clean. Location was fantastic as well. The hotel is right next to the water, so the ferry from Parapat can drop you off right at the hotel pier and pick you up from the same place. There are great restaurants nearby. I strongly recommend Coffee 2 Go across the street for breakfast and coffee, and Rosalie’s Beer Garden and Restaurant a 5-min walk away for lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly and helpful, though not all of them speak English.

Organised activities and motorbikes available to hire each day. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ferry drops off and picks up directly at the property. Meals were lovely.

I got very sick, which is no fun, specially as a solo traveller, and the ladies at reception helped me sooooo much. The younger sister drove me to the emergency room and even cooked and fed me some rice while I Could barely move. They brought me the food to my room, and where flexible and helpful with everything. Plus, the room is in perfect conditions, with nice views to the lake and close to everything (how shower was highly appreciated)

There is a private swimming area. Eateries and mini mart are a few minutes away by scooter. Location is pretty ideal. Highly recommended in house restaurant has good view of the lake and serves delicious food at a reasonable price. Drinking water can be replenished at the restaurant. Wifi works well in the property. Scooter available on site. Property can also arrange transport out of Lake Toba to various destinations. Staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. Clean room is huge with comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom is big. Room has shelving racks and seating area (both indoors and outdoors). Sufficient power socket available on both sides of the bed.

Location was great, Superior room had a fantastic view right on the lake. Food was amazing, we ate there every day. Our hosts were absolutely lovely, went out of their way to help.

Bon rapport qualité/prix quand on voit les tarifs des autres établissements sur Booking. Grande chambre avec une grande salle de bain, qui a de l'eau chaude. La terrasse protégée vue sur le lac est très agréable. Le personnel est super et a répondu à toutes nos demandes. Le petit déjeuner est suffisant et bon même s'il est identique tous les matins. Présence de très bons restaurants aux alentours pour le déjeuner et le dîner.
