However coming back is a little bit challenge since you need to hike to the up a little but. There is always tuk tuk available on the outside. Loved this place!!

Everything was superb and it was probably the best sunrise of our lives. That morning is absolutely among the top-ten travelling experiences together with for example, the Great Barrier reef, Rio de Janeiro, Kyoto, the Victoria Falls and sunset at Ao Prao beach at Koh Samet. The view from the balcony (and the bed) was spectacular. We sat on the balcony from 5.30 watching the sunrise over the mountains accompanied by the monks soft and humming morning prayers, truely magic. We then had a wonderful breakfast served at our balcony with the greatest of views. Thank you for being so welcoming and for taking so well care if us. Next time we will, for sure, stay for more than one night.

There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. Staying at the monastery for two nights was absolutely the highlight of our 16-day trip to Sri Lanka. It’s just a 6-7 minute walk along the railway tracks from the train station, while the regular road takes about 20 minutes uphill. The location is very convenient for hiking to Little Adam’s Peak and Ella Rock. The Chief Monk welcomed us personally with tea and introduced the temple’s program. Every evening at 6:30, you can join chanting and meditation. The breakfast was very hearty, and during our stay, we spotted small fish, shrimp, birds, and squirrels. Every evening, we enjoyed dinner at the monastery under the night sky—it was an incredible experience not to be missed. We were even able to see fireflies at night! The monastery provides a drying rack, which was very convenient. I highly recommend this unique and unforgettable stay.

The location is not far from the downtown area but far enough to have a relaxing stay. You can easily walk to small Adams Peak and the 9 arch bridge from there. The host was a wonderful gentleman who made sure my stay was an excellent one and provided me with useful information during my stay. He even arranged my transfer to Trincomalee which I appreciated. The room itself was very comfortable with a fan that kept the room at a nice temperature as the nights are cool.Nice bed and good hot water pressure.
