This is the best place we have stayed in over a month in Indonesia! El Homestay was a home away from home in Bunaken. Stefen and his family went out of their way to make us feel welcome and help us with everything we needed. Right from getting to the port in Manado, they had arranged the boat staff to meet us to make sure we knew where to go. The homestay is perfectly located near dive shops and restaurants in the village. The food was absolutely sensational, we stayed 5 nights and had a different fish prepared with different and fresh flavours every day. The portions were very generous. There were several options for breakfast, all very filling and tasty.

I love everything in this place. Cosy and comfortable cottages, stuning garden, food was various and really delicious. Snorkelling spot with beautifull coral reef full of fishes and turtles accesible directly from the beach. And least but not last the people there are great, every single one of them. The family of the homestay are lovely and treat you like part of the family straight away. The food was excellent and plentiful. Not only did they cater to vegetarian and vegan diets easily, the food was delicious and a highlight of our stay. For the room, it was small but adequate with a queen size bed with a comfortable mattress. The bathroom was nice with a good pressure cool shower and flushing toilet. Aircon worked great.and was a nice treat. Ken's homestay was the place to be in the evening with live music being played by various talents from across the village. It's a fun and friendly vibe. Some nights are more lively than others which was a nice mix for us. If you are a light sleeper or go to bed early bring earplugs and it is fine. The mornings are nice and quiet and you can wake up to the sound of the waves. You can't even hear the church or the mosque! We went on two snorkelling tours and both were great ways to see other amazing snorkelling spots and we even visited the village on Manado Tua. Good value too. We extended our stay by two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Terima kasih banyak!

Two lovely adjacent bungalows in front of the beach in the village with a shared porch with a dining table and relax chairs. The host Mamalis made amazing varied food, some of the best we’ve had in Indonesia. Papa Sem has a boat for snorkeling and dolphin tours. The atmosphere is calm, close to the pier and two diving schools. Communication in English is done through Stefen, who runs a nearby homestay. He is very friendly, like Mamalis and Papasem, whom you can talk to in Indonesian and through translation apps.

The twin room is beachfront while the double room is streetside. I recommend beachfront, of course, it has a better view but also less noise from the roosters that are across the street. The double room has more indoor space, and big outdoor sofa bench, if that's what you need. It's right in the kampung village, so it's absolutely susceptible to more noise and activity; but it's also closer to the main pier and other restaurants. Lucky is a fantastic host, and the family puts a lot of care into the homestay. It's simple but very clean and cozy. There's many small thoughtful things about the place, it's an easy place to stay. The food is different every day, and it's easy to ask if you do/don't like something. Communication is very clear and prompt. The reef out front is a long swim before you see anything, but it's nearly the same with other places.

A wonderful spacious clean room with a very comfortable bed and great ac and Internet. Excellent location - the food provided was more than I could eat and every meal was delicious xxx - I especially enjoyed sitting outside my room on their front patio area with the view of the ocean . Naca is a warm and welcoming host, and a great cook. We are all meals here and we loved it. She also has connections to other locals and knowledge about the surroundings so that can help you make the most of your stay. The location is perfect in the centre of the village. The room is simple and has everything you need. Keep in mind that there is no hot water (most places on the island lack this) and a fan for airconditioning.

The location was fantastic! Snorkelling right off the beach onto a coral reef 👌. As beginners to diving, we did several dives and felt very safe with the dive instructors. All equipment was in very good condition and checked regularly. And of course the diving itself was out of this world! Turtles galore. The staff are what truly made our stay perfect. The kitchen staff are amazing and handled my coeliac diet with ease, and they are amazing fun!

THE LOCATION IS GREAT, NOT FAR FROM AIRPORT AND DIRECT AT THE COAST. STAFF HAS BUILT A 3 MINUTE LONG BAMBOO WALKWAY THROUGH THE MANGROVE FOREST..... WHICH IS LOVELY AND IF LUCKY CAN SPOT TARSIERS, AT THE END A JETTY FOR SUNSET AND THEIR PRIVATE BOATS. WE HAVE SNORKELLED AND DIVED A LOT BUT WE HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A PROFESSIONAL AND HAPPY TEAM..... THE DIVE TEAM EVEN INCLUDES A FREE-DIVER WITH SAFETY TRAINING.... ALL IN ALL A ´LEKKERE EN GEZELLIGE´EXPERIENCE (ERVARING)....... OH YES ALSO GREAT LUNCHES ARE PROVIDED FOR!!!!
