Olinda Galle is an exquisite hidden gem down a quiet lane near the centre of the city. From the minute you walk in the rustic wooden doors, your breath is taken away by the beautiful central pool and surroundings. The decor is full of incredible antique pieces and thoughtful touches everywhere you look. This hotel has clearly been built by a very accomplished architect and interior designer. Our room had a wrap around balcony with both large sliding doors and teak shuttered windows. In the morning we opened up both and the room was filled with light and a breeze with the sound of birds in the surrounding palms. The bed was amazingly comfortable with crispy white sheets and gorgeous soft pillows. When we came up to bed (after a truly delicious supper of octopus and prawns) we found that the room had been prepared for us with the Roman blinds pulled down and the mosquito net closed around the four poster bed. No stone is left unturned here and the attention to detail from the staff was second to none.

Absolutely Outstanding Experience! Our stay at the Dormero Hotel in Sri Lanka was nothing short of amazing! The staff here is truly the best we have ever encountered – attentive, friendly, and always going above and beyond to ensure a perfect experience. The hotel itself is stunning, with a fantastic ambiance and exceptional hospitality. Without even asking, they graciously upgraded our room because there was availability – such a thoughtful gesture that made our trip even more special. Breakfast was an absolute highlight – delicious, varied, and beautifully presented. The top manager deserves special recognition for being incredibly kind, approachable, and helpful throughout our stay. Thank you, Dormero Hotel, for creating such unforgettable memories for us. I loved it here. Basic room with a comfy bed and mosquito net, what else do you need. The owner is very nice and helpful. Very lovely communal area with beach view with outdoor furnitures. If you want to have exquisite, delicious local food Darshi will prepare them to you at a reasonable price.

This is the place where you want to stay while visiting Sri Lanka. You spending your holiday in the history of this country. A spice traders house built in 1860 and completely renovated recently with lots of taste. The rooms, the living and dining areas, garden with the pool, everything is so beautiful and it feels it’s your own private home. Also breakfast and dinner was amazing and very tasty. The manager and all the staff are extremely helpful and super friendly. As it’s just a bit outside of Galle Fort, it’s super calm. But only a short stroll to reach the harbour with the local fisherman and the old town by foot. If not, a Tuk Tuk ride takes 5 minutes. Everything was just perfect.
