The place was lovely and clean. Very big and suitable for our group. Communication was great and we enjoyed our stay. It was lovely to have the fire and the radiators kept everything toasty.

Stayed here spontaneously for a night in order to have a bit more time in the area, which turned out to be a great choice: - our host Robert was very accommodating in general, we even got a free upgrade - large and comfy room - perfect location - excellent breakfast

Such a picturesque location with spectacular views of the countryside and mountains in the distance. The peace and quiet, the well thought out tiny home with everything we needed, and the extremely comfortable bed was perfect. The shower was amazing!

I’ve never slept so well in a hostel before. The pillows, mattresses and beds are so comfortable (no bunk beds but five sturdy wooden single beds so nothing squeaks or moves). Every dorm is a hut with a bathroom and from there you walk a hundred meters up to the main building: a barn with a kitchen and a cozy common area. The kitchen is well equipped and gets properly cleaned daily. The best part: it’s surrounded by deer farms and in March and April you can hear the deer and elks roar all day and night long. It’s pretty special. I absolutely loved it. At night you can see the stars as the next town is a ten minute drive away. It’s situated between Te Anau and Lake Manapouri. A beautiful area and an area where they filmed a couple of Lord of the rings scenes. In the morning and the evening you could see the fog when the sun rose and set over the hills. Yes, like someone wrote, it’s like Heidi. It’s close to beautiful lakes, mountains, rivers… I think it’s one of my most favourite places in New Zealand. I stayed for five nights and only left because I still wanted to see other places in Nee Zealand before my holiday was over. I could have stayed so much longer. I absolutely fell in love with this place and had a great time with the people there. Thank you so much!
