It is a short walk from the ferry and might be a bit hard to find on your first time on your own. But no problem, get a porter or directions when you get off the ferry. It is a lovely walk as the island is so small and you walk through its beauty including past the Museum of Slaves. But the best part is when you get to the hotel. The hotel is built along the outside of old colonial walls - really interesting. And a quick path from the hotel to walk along the ocean and amongst basalt columns. If we hadn't stayed at this hotel, we would have definitely missed this unique geographical feature. We went to the island for the same reason everyone else goes, the Museum of Slaves and other architecture, but this was an unexpected bonus. We enjoyed it the way we did Iceland's basalt and Ireland's Giant's Causeway. The history of the island overshadows mentioning this in any literature that I am aware of. The owner is a very kind and hospitable host. She is a most impressive woman who is continually building her gardens and property. The gardener is a lovely man too and also one of the island's painters. This place with its lovely people and uniqueness beats any fancy 5 star corporate hotel.

The house is beautiful, with a quite garden to rest and a small kitchen. In the morning we had a good rich breakfast upstairs. We had a shared bathroom which was always clean. The house is in one of the many small streets of goreè and next door there is a minimarket, which is really useful if you need anything. Eric then is a great host, very helpful and discrete, he gives us a big hand buying bus ticket and the last day, since we left early in the morning, he leaves us breakfast in the fridge of the small kitchen.

The place is like a Art gallery!! we love the African details of the decoration. The room with air conditioning and glass windows. The attention of the girls is amazing!! really, really nice people. Excellent excellenmt friendly staff. However, please use better butter like president and better cheese please. Coffee was not super duper good. More variety. Lights for dinner or a canlde. Food and plates should come out at the same time. Rooms should be cleaned daily ideally. Staff is really nice and helpful and so friendly. Just with a little improvements here and there we can go from a 9.9 out of 10 to a 10 out of 10!

Friendly and helpful host and staff. Historic, characterful building. Great location 2 mins walk from the beach. Very cool, quiet, spacious bedroom. Beautiful courtyard. Delicious breakfast. The most relaxing hotel I've ever stayed in.

Vero and Francois’ property is beautiful, peaceful and spotlessly clean. It is within easy walking distance of the entire island, including various cafes and restaurants (Vero and Francois will recommend their favourites). There is fast WiFi, excellent breakfast, great shower pressure, large and comfortable beds in spacious rooms. Our room was situated on the second floor on a balcony which looks over the greenery-filled central courtyard. Make sure to book more than 1 night - our biggest regret! Thank you both so much for your hospitality!
