Great location, only 3 mins walk to beach clubs and restaurants. Rooms were large, great facilities and very clean, especially compared to other properties we stay at in Zanzibar. We loved the pool and breakfast was a highlight everyday! We were also able to book day trips and taxis at reception, our host helped us plan our airport transfers and activities around the island. We will definitely be returning again!

We are in the middle of a 2 month journey through East Africa and we decided to take a break for 5 days and enjoy all that Zanzibar had to offer. We absolutely loved Zula Zanzibar and we feel lucky to have stumbled across this amazing hotel online. Our room was spotless, air con was refreshing, the second storey deck off of our room was a great place to chill, beds were firm but the pillows were comfortable and they even supplied mosquito nets but we didn’t need them. The pools were perfect and were well taken care of. The lounge chairs were comfortable. The wifi was strong. The wind was always blowing which kept away the insects and allowed you lie comfortably in the sun, and the location offered breathtaking views especially from the elevated ocean front pool. It’s a couple minute walk from the local gift shops and ‘The Market’ where you can get everything you need. The food at Zula Zanzibar was on par in terms of price and quality and was better than many of the other places we tried - not to mention the free freshly baked cookies always available at the front desk plus the staff would sometimes walk around and offer complimentary samples of local appetizers which were all to die for, especially the slightly spicy potato thingy’s which were pure addiction. Having said all that, it’s the staff at Zula Zanzibar that really sets this place apart. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel like part of a family. Mary, Ben, Benti, Janet, Patricia and the countless other staff never missed a chance to say hello and to see how we were doing. The restaurant staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive and even the cleaning staff always made sure we always had what we needed. This place is run very well and the staff is always out making sure every little detail is taken care of.

    Great location, right next to the beach. Affordable. Quite a lively area, so maybe not the best for sensitive sleepers. The staff were very helpful and brought me a brand new mosquito net when I mentioned there were holes in mine.

    Villa Huruma, was a beautiful and peaceful villa to stay at. Felt very much like home as it’s not too big, so even with other guests the stay was very personal. Lucy was a friendly and polite host and her breakfasts were very yummy. The place was very clean in general and was cleaned on a daily basis (as was the pool). Beach towels for the day beds were provided which was lovely of them. And the location is pretty great, minutes from the beach, not far from the city centres and also has a local gym!
