This is a beautiful property, well finished with extremely helpful staff. We arrived here whilst a storm was hitting Christchurch and this property lifted our moods and relaxed us. It might be more expensive than the average hotel in Christchurch but is more than worth the extra cost.

Really appreciated the cleanliness of the room as well as the mini kitchen. The location of the hotel is great too - it's a 10 min walk to the nearest mall and the street has many restaurant options. The cafe situated in the lobby also serves really good Vietnamese food and coffee as well as other brunch food.

Our room looked over Lake Tekapo with table and chairs set in front of a large picture window - perfect for sipping wine as the sun set. It was a short drive down to see the Church of the Good Shepherd and main sites of Tekapo with a 90 minute drive to Mount Cook. The skylight over the bed made for stunning views of the stars. The breakfast in the morning was made to order in a nice setting in the lobby (option for room service was offered as well). The room is very comfortable and the soaking tub with views of the lake was divine!! Would definitely recommend this stay!

The location is excellent, right in front of the bus stop. The service is outstanding, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and the room is spacious. The bathroom is also clean and spacious, perfect for a relaxing bath. It's the best choice before departing from Christchurch Airport.

The room was very clean with a nice, comfy bed. The staff refreshed our room every day and even did our dishes, which I was NOT expecting. It felt very above and beyond to me. I was out of cell phone service most of the day we were meant to arrive and missed the notification for late check-in instructions. Luckily, they were very responsive and accommodating through the Booking.com messaging, even though it was an hour after reception had closed!

I honestly was a bit put off by the word “motel” in the name, as that reminds me of some negative experiences from the past. But I was needlessly worried. Our stay at Alps was excellent. The room was big, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, and the location is a short walk from a supermarket, several good restaurants and bars, and a great little coffee shop and cafe. And it’s only a 40 minute drive to Aoraki / Mt Cook National park. We opted to stay here rather than in Mt. Cook village, and we’re so glad we did. We much preferred the small town atmosphere of Twizel and the price point and quality of Alps Motel over what we saw in Mt. Cook village.
