If you are looking for a full immersion in the Bedouins' traditions, the Authentic Desert Camp hosted by Saeed is the best experience you could find in Oman desert ! From Omani hospitality to traditional dancing demonstrations, through a full tour of the desert, meet up with camels roaming around, we felt so comfortable with Saeed, who shared with passion all his knowledge with us. Authentic food was served as well, including traditional Omani dishes and fresh grills, including traditional bread cooking in the fire. It was an amazing experience, totally adapted for kids, group of friends and families!

My wife and I began to consider our options as we followed a stranger in a foreign country into the empty desert to stay at a camp we weren’t sure truly existed. Sure, Oman has ridiculously low crime rate, but the possibilities of what awaited us were endless. After a 20 minute drive through bedouin camps and an empty sea of sand we were relieved to find the camp as pictured on the site. However, shortly after setting up for bed, the camp was hit by a storm which was extremely rare to the area. I stood there for 30 minutes holding the pole of the tent from inside, so it didn’t collapse on us, as the rain and wind pattered the canvas. If I could go back in time to the moment we started our journey… I would do it a million times over. Thousand Stars is a passion project started by Ali and his companion, and cared for by a truly honorable and wonderful caretaker - Sadam. It is not a 5 star resort run by a board of trustees with millions of investment dollars. It is 3 men, who put their blood sweat and tears into each and every night. We started the evening off by having tea, coffee and fruits with Ali and discussing life. Shortly after, Ali ensured we were comfortable and left us to be. We were the only couple there that night so we had the whole camp to ourselves. There are usually 2-3 tents available per night. My wife and I spent some time chatting under the moonlight, but called it early as we saw a storm approaching. Sadam was working hard to cover the dining tent with a tarp so that we could be comfortable while eating dinner. The storm came, and yes, there was a short bit of time where I had to hold the tent up but this was no fault of the camp - just nature. Despite the storm, Sadam trekked over to our tent from his to make sure we were ok. Right after the storm ended I heard the roar of a car. It was Ali again, who drove all the way back just to make sure everything was ok.

Staying at Desert Diamond Private camp was one of the best experiences I had in Oman. The camp is private and peaceful, and the hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming. The food was delicious and varied — I especially enjoyed the camel meat at dinner. Breakfast on the soft desert sand was unforgettable. The room and bathroom were both beautifully decorated and very clean. The stargazing trip was a magical experience that added a special touch to the stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and memorable desert escape.

Situated in Bidiyah in the Al Sharqiyah region, Rashid Desert Private Camp has a balcony. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. On clear days, guests can head outside to enjoy the luxury tent's outdoor fireplace or simply kick back and relax. We were looking for a more remote camp and this place is perfect! You only see the 3 tents that belong to the camp and nothing else. On the way to the camp we saw many camps very close to the main road and the experience there must be different. And the best part is Rashid! He was very helpful from the beginning, communicating frequently and always positive. He picked us up from the meeting point and we followed him in our car which was amazing! He also organized additional activities (dune bashing and quad tour) for us which we enjoyed a lot! He even had to deal with many issues that the group staying in other tents had and never hesitated to help. The 2 guys helping with preparation of everything were very friendly and the food they cooked was delicious! Absolutely recommend!

We really enjoyed our experience staying in the desert. We had beautiful sunset and sunrise. We booked the dinner and breakfast which was delicious. Badr was great, he picked us up from the carpark and dropped us off to our car the next day. On the way he showed us the camels and a Bedouin camp nearby. Him and the other staff also spend time with everyone around the bonfire telling us stories about life in the desert and singing songs. The tents and bathrooms are basic but the bed is comfortable and it feels like an authentic experience. We would visit again and would like to express our gratitude to Badr for making this a great experience for us.

We were picked up at the said location (easy to find) and the two brothers that runs it made us feel at home, they ensure that we were comfortable and also offering tea and snacks. We had dinner on the location, it was very good and they ensure the menu was according to our food restrictions and preference.
