As a solo traveller this was a great place to get away and relax and get some alone time. Hosts were incredibly welcoming throughout my stay and made me feel very much at home. The treehouse was comfy and the balcony was great for watching the wildlife that roam around, the toilet also had a great view. The food was genuinely outstanding, also grown at the house, and they were not shy with the portions. A great little stay

Best value for money so far in Sri Lanka. Great location by the river. We saw some tree snakes, peacocks and chipmunks. Nice balcony to chill on with breakfast. Air con was perfect and adjustable. Nice towels.

Wonderful guesthouse hosted by Anil and his wife, and Olivier from Hossegor who has been living here for 15 years. They were always available, ready to help, eg they will drop you anywhere you need. The room was super clean and spacious, calm but right in the center of Midigama. In the nature and breezy. We booked 2 extra nights as we felt like home! Bonus: they helped us organise our trip to Ella and safari and gave us all the tips of restaurants and surf spots in Midigama! Many thanks for having us, we will be back!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that exceeded all expectations. The highlight of our stay was undeniably our incredible host, who spared no effort in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Beyond the culinary delights, our room was a sanctuary of comfort and style. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. Wonderful place close to the beach, but still quiet and secluded. The hosts are super nice and helpful. Several bungalows are hidden in green, vast area so you feel isolated from other guests. The pool is great :). Breakfasts are diversified, so every day you can try different meal. Walking distance, 3 min., to Midigama center. We will most ceirtainly come back!

I couldn't have asked for a better stay. This cabin is perfectly located - close to Ahangama junction and the beach but also quite and a little bit apart from the busy parts and noises. The host is very friendly and attentive and the breakfast is amazing. All in all it was a great stay and I wish I could've extended!
