The luxury tent also features outdoor fireplace and a picnic area for a day out in the open. The staff! Everyone we met was friendly and eager to make our 2 nights memorable. The room was incredible and is among the nicest I’ve had while in Africa. It’s right up there with the top lodges in game reserves. They had no issue bringing you down to the parking area anytime we wanted to leave and they were always available to pick you up upon returning. The pool and bar area were great to relax around in the afternoons and the quaint living and dining room was comfortable to spend time in during the evenings before dinner.

The air-conditioned chalet is composed of 2 separate bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave and toaster, and 1 bathroom. Towels and bed linen are provided in the chalet. Boasting a garden and views of garden, Highbourne Cottages is a recently renovated chalet situated in Winterton, 10 km from Monks Cowl Country Club. The chalet, set in a building dating from 1940, is 34 km from Winterton Museum and 50 km from Spioenkop Nature Reserve. There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. We stayed at Protea Cottage, which is well-equipped and comfortable. It's located at the end of the R600, near the entrance to Monk's Cowl area of the Drakensberg. You can access many nice trails directly from the cottage. The view from the porch is glorious, especially at sunset. Cathkin Park is a great location, and we easily filled our 6 days there. We went ziplining, hiking, swimming in the streams, horseback riding at uShaka, and saw the Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey show. We unfortunately missed whitewater rafting and the Boys Choir show. Leslie communicated thoroughly ahead of time about check-in and other details so there were no surprises. We also loved that it was off the grid, but with the solar panels, who noticed? The kitchen had all the necessary items, including a camp toaster and a French press for coffee. Lindsey and Brett don't live on site, but they stopped by a couple of times, and they were friendly and helpful. Their caretakers were there daily and kept everything in good order.

Beautiful views, with peace and quiet of the nature that you want to just unwind. The cottage is spacious and well thought lay-out, with views nearly 180% views.

Set on the banks of the Tugela River, 22 km north of Winterton, Tugela River Lodge features self-catering accommodation 13 km from Spioenkop Nature Reserve and 22 km from Winterton Museum.

All units have a kitchen, a private bathroom and a terrace or balcony with views of mountain. Some units feature a dining area and/or a patio. We really enjoyed our time at Tugela River Lodge. There’s so many things to do within the property like kayak, mountain bike, trails, and little farm area. It’s very clean and the staff and owner are super friendly and always willing to assist. The farm stall has a lot of supplies, so if you forget anything you wouldn’t even need to drive out. Very pet friendly as well - everything we could do with our little mini dachshund. She loved her time there and the fenced off area is big and safe. The wood-fired tub is an amazing way to wind down. The view is amazing and Bheki always comes to help fire it up ahead of time. All in all a fantastic experience as a couple, and I’m sure it’d be lovely for a family and friends group too!

River and small waterfall/rapid, birdsong provided soothing sounds from nature The Jacuzi bath functioned well. The fireplace provided warmth and ambience The self catering amenities was sufficient. Great Location in midlands/ central Drakensberg from where to explore the abundant surroundings; villages ,eateries, craft shopping; breweries; spa's, scenic waterfalls vistas of mountains sometimes snow capped

Riverbend Chalets (Gold Crown Resort) is set within the scenic Drakensberg Garden and boasts views of lush landscapes and the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range. The resort has a restaurant, children’s playground and outdoor swimming pool. I love the fact that there is games inside the facility. And karaoke night was very entertaining and we very much enjoyed ourselves

The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and shower. A fridge and microwave are also available, as well as a kettle. Duck and Elsabe are a beautiful couple. They have put some much love and attention to the place and also made us feel like home. We enjoyed their beautiful garden, so so special it was!! And after our stay they also helped us with the flat tires that we had. Really appreciate all the help and the stay. Thankyou very much 😊

The owner was super friendly, when I arrived he was already waiting with a smile, place is super clean, safe and very peaceful. Had all the necessities even a heated bed, a fridge, stove and more. Featuring a bar, Greenfire Drakensberg Lodge is located in Kruisfontein. The property is solar powered and offers Canadian-style log cabins. Guests can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and nature reserves. As a solo female traveller, this was the perfect destination to unplug from the buzz of city life. 3.5hrs from Jhb, I chose it because it is safe and the views of the mountains are SPECTACULAR. I was welcomed by Sam upon my arrival and immediately the warmth of the lodge was felt. I am a return guest, and I returned because my first time at this property was absolutely incredible. Coming back was always a question of when, not if. The lodge itself is really well maintained, the cabins are clean and stunning. I really like the hot water provided in the morning for tea/coffee with a rusk. The wood for the fireplace adds a nice touch as well for those cold and rainy nights. A special shoutout to the staff, they were great, I was always greeted with warmth and a smile. The greatest appeal of this place is the location, the hiking trails and the closeness of the mountains, but then there is the food. I was fed so well and so much! All my meals were something to look forward to. I was grateful for the packed lunch on the day I opted to be out walking/hiking at lunchtime. I loved that the dinners were essentially interesting takes on clean, whole foods. The hiking trails offer something for everyone (long and short routes), and I took advantage and walked/hiked as much as I could. Take a good strong pair of walking/hiking shoes and sunscreen. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough, whether for a solo traveller, a couple or a family/group. Greenfire is like no other! Nature at its BEST.
