FAQs about hotels in Mendoza

South American Bacchus Paradise

It is said that abundance in Mendoza was so great at the beginning of the 20th century, that the Wine Festival was celebrated pouring this elixir in the city’s fountains and street-side irrigation canals. Located at Mount Aconcagua’s footstep, the city is an oasis in the middle of the dry beauty of the central Argentinean Andes.

Originally inhabited by indigenous peoples, the colonial city was founded in 1561. The irrigation system created by the natives was further developed and became an icon of the city, currently watering near 100,000 trees. The design of the central district includes squares and avenues, and has some of the best luxury hotels in Mendoza.

It is surrounded by vineyards and cellars producing world-class wines. Don’t miss the renowned Malbec variety, and try some of the boutique hotels and rural ‘estancias’ in Mendoza’s wine areas.

Its historic relevance comes from the fact that Argentinean hero José de San Martín prepared here his pioneering crossing of the Andes in 1817, aimed to liberate Chile. This amazing trip with mules and on foot is repeated every year by a group of enthusiasts. The area is actually well-known for mountain sports like hiking, rafting, and skiing.

We loved the Parque de San Martin for early morning walks, coffee in Habitat or even a run. Vineyard tour to Familia Blanc was the best tour we have had so far and we have done 6 in Chile and Argentina. Their wines were fantastic and seemed better than those I tasted at the Alta Vista vineyard and the price was excellent 1/3 of the latter Best steak was had at El Asadito - have the 500g Bife de Chorizo, you won’t be disappointed

There’s not a great deal to do in the city, unless this is a base for wine tasting. However, there are some very nice restaurants (& not only the pricy ones) and the market, some parks, museums and sights to see.

The excursions and the wine are the best part of Mendoza, though I would not say it is a cheap city to visit, at least not at the moment. The city itself is quaint, the trees and parks are lovely, and though we felt mostly safe, at night there a quite a few homeless around town, that make it feel a bit doubty. You can see the city itself in a day, as there are not really big attractions and must sees. I would spend my time exploring vineyards and a high mountain tour.

If you are a Foodie and enjoy wine this city is great for a 4 day weekend. 3rd week in May had great weather, 20C sun during day and 12C at night. Highlights of my stay were: -Bodega Los Toneles [ this place is a GEM ]: wine tasting and an amazing lunch at their restaurant Abrasado. Must reserve for tour, tasting and lunch!! 15 mins UBER from city. -Cerro la Gloria. 10 mins UBER from city. -Parque San Martin for a pic-nic. -Walking through Plaza Independencia, Plaza Espana, Plaza Chile y Plaza Italia. -Bike rental for the day. -Having dinner at Soberana!!!! Need reservation. Fab Barman. -Amazing for breakfast or lunch is Anna Bistro's. -Also, breakfast at Cora, has patio and inside or Rama Negra Cafe. -I very much enjoyed having a 3 hour Sunday lunch at La Gloria in Chacras de Coria [ very easy to get there in Uber from Mendoza center ] Well worth the experience. Need reservation. Get there at 1pm! If weather is good ask for patio table, WOW. La Gloria was an incredible experience and the place is beautiful. Best wine selection I had all 4 days was at La Gloria. Cheers.

City of food and wine

City of food and wine L’Orange artisanal winery was an excellent find. Booked The Animal House for a tour and lunch. Exceptional. Better than the big commercial vineyard we toured via a tour operator the previous day.

Only stayed here one night whilst en-route to somewhere else, but we ended up kind of regretting that. It's a big but excellent hotel located extremely centrally. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, as was the room and staff. Huge fancy lobby was fun. Price was great too. I still think it's better to stay outside of Mendoza, but if you need or just want to, this is a great option. Especially if you are being picked up for day tours.

The hotel has a style. It is very artistic and bohemian. This feature gives an extra feeling to the stay in Mendoza . One feels the city across the passed years. This all thanks to the owner of the place who created the artistic atmosphere and apparently realized an interesting vision of business in this place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there ! The location is excellent. The staff were great and for an older hotel the facilities were good. The common areas are welcoming spaces with a bar, pool and pool table. 24/7 desk staff is a plus for a small hotel.
