The 180 degree view from the Gasthof Maria Plain hotel terrace, and from the balcony of room #20 which we had, captures sweeping pastoral greenery in the foreground, behind which is the city of Salzburg with the iconic fortress on the berg, back-dropped by the soaring Austrian Alps.     Great location at the end of a country lane on a hillside overlooking Salzburg. Their own restaurant was a great place for dinner. It is possible to walk into Salzburg from the hotel, or drive halfway and then just walk the 'flat' part of the route.

    Close to the Autobahn with a bus stop just outside the hotel for transport in to the city centre. Good restaurant on the hotel premises where we could have dinner upon arrival.
