Lovely village to visit for a couple of days.

Lovely village to visit for a couple of days. The lake is wonderful to go boating on. Hopefully the cable car up to the top of the hill is working soon. The hike is suitable for young adults and up to fit 70 year olds. The food eatery are lovely but check out the ones behind the main street.

I thing 2 days is ok if you stay only in Hallstatt however you can consider one extra day for Obertraun for 5 Fingers and ice/mammut cave. Hallstatt is a beautiful city however not to much to do around considering the salt mine is clouse. Bout ride is good for amaizing foto of town.

We had a surprise that the funicular shut down the day we arrived. We didn't make it up the mountain for the attractions we planned to see. The Visitors bureau were not that helpful. They were very vague and we felt like we had to figure things out on our own. Kind of strange. We made the most of it and settled in for a couple days, strolling the lake road and stopping at different lakefront restaurants and cafe's

We went towards end of September which was still quite busy. I would avoid the peak Summer months if you don’t like crowds. Stunning town very picturesque. We had 2 nights which was just enough time to explore the town on foot as the Cable car and salt mines not operating in September as end of season. Great home cooked meal at good value for money at the Restaurant pictured below. Austrians prefer to be paid in Cash especially the taxi drivers

We stayed a bit less than 24 hours, may have liked a few more hours, but not a lot more. It was a wonderful intermediary between Vienna and Salzburg. It was nice to be there around the times that the buses weren’t. We rode in on the train, ferry to the town and ferry back to the train.

The cons are it's a SUPER touristed little town, feels very crowded to walk the streets through the downtown. It's a gem of a town, so I get why everyone comes here. We were here in early Sept and even then it was wildly busy - I can't imagine coming here in peak season in June/July. There is also very little vegan food available but we made it work (there's great grocery stores for non-dairy milk, cheese, bread, hummus, veg, etc). The pros are it is really a lovely place and if you leave the town to go hiking (highly recommend), it's a lot more peaceful and the views are just epic. There's waterfalls and lookouts, and paths along the river. The salt mine was closed for construction but that looked cool to checkout. Some of the shops downtown had good things to buy (wooden ornaments and figurines, all the salt you can want, soaps).

If you ever visit Hallstatt, do yourself a favor and spend an enchanted night at this wonderful hotel. You'll be welcomed by its stunning view, comfort, elegant decor, and the warm hospitality of the host, making you say, "I'm so glad I stayed here! Expecting a simple breakfast in the morning, but instead we were delighted to be served a gracefully prepared meal worthy of gourmet chefs. This made our experience even more enjoyable. Thank you so much!

Go twice, go three times!! It was the best hotel in Hallstatt. The owner is very kind and it was best to always take care of the convenience of our guests. All the hotel facilities are brand new and clean. And the view of Hallstatt Lake from the hotel is the best. The view from the terrace and the garden was amazing. I recommend it to anyone planning a Hallstatt trip! There was a breakfast fee, but it's worth it. The breakfast was very delicious!

This is a beautiful hotel - the room was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. The staff are very welcoming and accommodating - and gave us great advice about walking in the area (to escape the crowds - Hallstatt is so busy in the daytime). We had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the valley, and a fridge for beer and water. There is parking out front (essential for us) and the location is perfect. Just superb!

The Fenix Hall Hotel was everything one might have hoped for staying in such a picturesque location as Hallstatt and it was simply perfect. It was a minute's stroll from P1 the car park and five minutes into Hallstatt's unique centre. The hosts could not have been more welcoming either. We would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Probably the best located hotel in Hallstatt. Also It is a great privilege to have a private garden for customers by the lake.
