Waltz Through the Pretty Streets of Vienna

Previously the centre of the Hapsburg Empire, Vienna is the current centre of Austria’s culture, economics, and politics. Visitors may think they are in a museum as they walk through the historic first district, but Vienna also has a youthful and dynamic side with lots to offer.

St Stephens Cathedral in the Inner-City is surrounded by the Ring Road, with grandiose buildings like City Hall, the Austrian Parliament, the State Opera House and the Burgtheater. Enjoy the city where amazing musicians like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Mahler once lived. If you’'re visiting during the carnival season, practice your waltzing skills at one of Vienna’s 200 glamorous annual balls.

Visitors can wander around beautiful park grounds in the Wiener Prater and Schonbrunn Palace provides imperial and extravagant grounds to stroll through. After exploring, eat with the locals by enjoying famous sandwiches at Trzesniewski, a Wiener Schnitzel at Cafe Central or taste traditional wines at the city’s many Viennese pubs.

Vienna International Airport is the doorway to the heart of Vienna. Booking.com has luxury hotels, charming bed & breakfasts and modern apartments to meet any accommodation needs for your stay in Austria’s capital.

Oh my!

Oh my! The palace tour, the churches, the 1897 ferris wheel, the octoberfest, the beautiful old buildings, the food both Austrian and other, the coffee and Sacher torte at the Hotel Sacher, the public transportation. I want to go back as I was not there long enough.

A beautiful city with a 1st class transport system.

A beautiful city with a 1st class transport system. Plenty of fantastic galleries and museums. Interesting mix of older Habsburg architecture and new cutting edge buildings especially in the area behind Vienna Hbf where I stayed. Not too expensive a tasty schnitzel with friendly service is around 20 euros. The wonderful coffee houses are still there as well as a wide selection of bars and taverns.

Vienna has so many attractions and such a diversity of activities that one is likely to find something interesting no matter the taste. It is definitely wonderful for art lovers, and is a must-go for music lovers. Cafes, galleries, shops galore, full of history and buzz. Be prepared to share it with lots of other visitors, too, and avoid the must-go places like some overrated cafes or galleries at peak times. The weather may be on your side with sunshine and mild temperatures, but be also prepared for less clement weather, wind and rain. Overall, definitely worth at least a few days' stay.

Vienna has changed quite a lot since my last visit - now the city feels much more diverse, with families and children everywhere, especially near the elevators. It’s very different from how I remember it. I visited the Technical Museum and was truly impressed. Compared to 5-6 years ago, it’s like a completely different place. I saw modern technology exhibits like fiber optics, welding equipment, quantum processors, and exhibitions about plastics, metals, how they’re used and recycled. There was also a 3D construction printer with cement, which was fascinating. The museum now offers much more up-to-date technology and interactive exhibits. The zoo was pretty much the same as before, except for the prices which have gone up.

Clean streets and beautifully restorated buildings. A lot of history. Great food. A lot of family friendly restaurants. Good public transport and clean air. A green city, with nice parks and green areas.

Long queues for palaces, best to book a time slot in advance. Sight seeing bus was a waste of time, you see the beautiful buildings better by tram or on foot. Opera was a huge let down, not at all what we expected. I chose a real opera over the spanish riding school performance but overhearing an american group convo I realised that was just as bad. Beautiful museums and cathedrals and if you an art lover then Belvedere art collection has got to be your one place to go. We bought a €17,3 day travel card and used it to travel by tube/bus/tram. Amazing value for money!

-Location: the hotel is not in the city centre, but it is located around 200 metres from the nearest metro station (4 stops from Schönbrunn palace and 2 stops from the Vienna State Opera: the city centre, the Cathedral, and the most important museums are within walking distance of it) -Both my room and the common areas were clean and had modern, good-taste forniture in my opinion -the staff was professional -the hotel has a nice bar, a restaurant, and a laundry service (I have not tried it though) -very good value for money

Very nice hotel to stay in. The staff were very friendly throughout our two day stay. Room was a good size and quiet, which was particularly amazing considering that the hotel is directly across from Vienna's main train station. Very easy access to the city centre via the U-bahn.
