Overall very surprised. Had no expectations, arrived right before the reception closed. I was greeted so kindly by the lady and made me feel at home right away! We had the cabin, aircon worked, nice kitchen, no stove inside the cabin, it had a microwave. The showers and toilets were clean the whole time

The Hotel Staff were amazing and nothing too much trouble. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean. Bedding and towels supplied are immaculate, soft fluffy towels and brilliant white sheets. Wrapped cups and glasses plenty of tea and coffee available. The food atmosphere and entertainment in the pub brilliant. Location from bus stop if travelling via greyhound is practically right outside. There is car parking available outside the rooms should you need it.

What isn't to love about Bowen!!

What isn't to love about Bowen!! It's a beautiful spot with some great cafes and pubs. Our family and friends love it and its on 45mins down the road. This time we stayed again at the Horseshoe Bay Caravan Park which we love for overnight and long weekend stays. The cafe is right there for all meal options and the cocktail menu is great!! I love that you can walk to Horseshoe bay for swim or round the corner to Grays bay. We didn't get out the bikes this time but it's easy enoungh to ride to other beaches. Don't forget Bowen has a water park for the kids ( up to about 12yrs) not really designed for big kids.

Loved our new accommodation located in Rose Bay and the...

Loved our new accommodation located in Rose Bay and the people and visitors there. Saw whales off shore. Businesses not far away for essentials and takeaway food. The view from the lookout on Flagstaff Hill is amazing and gives a full 360 degree view of Bowen and the surrounding area. It's so easy to navigate Bowen but Google maps makes it so much easier.

People we met in the town of Bowen were friendly and helpful. Bowen Hotel restaurant was very good. Bakery was excellent. Bowen is a nice town, with nice people. Shame that the Ocean Views Motel wasn't. We wouldn't return to that motel.

Bowen is a small town in an amazing location surrounded by...

Bowen is a small town in an amazing location surrounded by very picturesque beaches and very little traffic. It has a long jetty where you can walk and see dugongs, stingrays, sea turtles, fishes, and surrounding islands. It has many good restaurants to eat in and fresh seafood shops alongside Woolworths, IGA, Kmart hub and chemists. It is a 2 hr drive up to Townsville and 1 hr drive to Airlie Beach and Shute Harbor for amazing reef trips, and just 1 hr to Proserpine Airport. The stay here is very relaxing and prices for accommodation reasonable. It is a great place for families.

Desperately needs a decent taxi service.

Desperately needs a decent taxi service. I was visiting friends which was hard enough. Would never recommend as a holiday destination basically due to lack of tansport options. Couldn't even enjoy a couple of glasses of wine together over dinner :-(

Most underrated beach destination in Australia. Pure heaven! The area around Greys Bay and Horseshoe is just perfect, could happily stay a week. Very hot in the middle of the day in summer though so have some plans for indoor activities for then.

Beautiful outlook across the ocean from our beach front cabin. This park is very professionally managed and very well maintained, the staff were friendly and helpful. Our cabin was very clean and comfortable. I also liked the location as there is a beautiful walk to Horseshoe Bay from this park.

Looked right out over the Ocean. Easy parking. easy pick up for key. Lady at reception arrived in 5 minutes after we called to say we were arriving. Very close to Horseshoe Bay that we wanted to snorkel at. We will come again. Vey happy with unit. A bit dated but clean and tidy. Fully recommend

With the pool, large grassy areas for play and being able to walk straight on to horseshoe bay from the resort, this is an excellent spot for families. Self-contained room and BBQ facilities too, just fantastic!
