I had an excellent time in Cains with many things to do. I toured the town on saturday and sunday. Rustys and night market, Lagoon, art gallery and the botanical Gardens . Fitroy Island on monday. Daintree tour on Tuesday. Karonda Rail and Sky on Wednesday. Green Island on Thursday (Loved swimming with the turtles) and White water rafting on Friday. It was an action packed week that I loved.

We visited Cairns twice during our travels.

We visited Cairns twice during our travels. The first time we explored all the main attractions- Aquarium, Botanic Gardens, Fitzroy Island and stayed in a hotel. Our second stay was for a bit of down time having travelled up to Daintree and the Tablelands. We really wanted a bit of relaxation and self cooking so this apartment was perfect. Great food around the pier area. The seafood on the Prawn Star was superb and if you’re self catering, then Woolies has everything you need. The lagoon is perfect for families as is the Muddy Cafe and play park.

We travelled to Cairns in October for a week, weather was perfect! Around 32 degrees every day. Not too crowded and yet everything was available for us to enjoy. Very relaxing, laid back environment, we particularly enjoyed the Esplanade and the lagoon area - we walked there every day. We loved all the gardens and beautifully kept foliage. The markets were fun to explore and travelling around by bus is super easy. Thank you Cairns for a truly wonderful break from our busy lives!

It's a good place to fly into, and go on and see other places, like the far north and Port Douglas, and on the train up to Kuranda. It's just another city, really. My 3rd time there, and apart from good Vietnamese food, (Pho Viet, opposite the library), there is nothing all that appealing. There are very few taxis, I didn't know this- uber is the way to get about apparently. Otherwise get your walking shoes on. It is slightly cheaper to eat out in Cairns than Port Douglas, though.

I really only saw a small part of Cairns only being there 4 days, so I did & saw what I really wanted to see- Kuranda by train, Crystal Cascades, Green Island, Nth Esplanade for migratory birds especially , Botanic Gardens for butterflies. Didn’t explore downtown city cairns

Cairns is nice and flat and most things are in walking distance. Otherwise a taxi or Uber will get you where you need to go. Many great restaurants and steak houses. Try the Cock and Bull, they serve huge meals, offer kangaroo and croc on their menu and the staff are fantastic. A trip to Kuranda is a must if you have not been there before. I highly recommend taking the scenic railway up and the skyrail down. This allows for the best flexibility with time. Don't forget the islands and the reef. All are well worth a visit. If you like military things then the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum is a must. We go every time we are in Cairns. It is a private collection and there is always something new to see.

Superb room and bathroom, all modern, well maintained and clean, hotel is right next to the marina and the lagoon / esplanade But highlight is undoubtedly the friendly family team running the hotel. The manager Peter couldn’t have done any more to make my stay more enjoyable - from a fuss-free early check-in, to booking all my planned activities for me (at a discount - including a scuba trip to the Great Barrier Reef). Thanks again for a fantastic stay - nowhere else I would book in Cairns.

Great Room, Great Location, Great Breakfast, Fantastic Staff. We were only transiting through Cairns, and we were so happy to stay here. Beds were big and comfy. Room was nice and clean. The staff were wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was great. Great location on the Cairns Esplanade where there is no shortage of restaurants for dinner. Location, location, location. Right on the Esplanade and lagoon, you can't beat this hotel for a central stay in Cairns. We took a short walk to the marina for our great barrier reef cruise. The property was beautiful, very chic and modern. Clean and comfortable. The city view from the room is quite pleasant.
