    Nice touristy country town.

Nice touristy country town. Parking in the commercial centre is a nightmare. Best to park by the park and walk into town. Seemed to be lots of little cafes, and various knick-knack and essentials services. I was there for the Regional Gallery, and stayed at the Gallery Motel, which was 5 minutes south of the centre, very close to the Gallery. I have previously stopped at the Murwillumbah Motor Inn, up on a hill West of the town centre. I would recommend this for a budget stay as some rooms have shared toilet facilities, and a room could be got for under a hundred dollars ($85 on this occasion). I did stop in town to look at an Arts Centre ... a sort of co-op space with various artists. Basically, a big shed with containers for 'artists in residence'. It has a coffee shop and a stage for live performances, although not while I was there. Looks like they might teach there as well. I drove around the suburbs getting a feel for the space, and it is only 10 minutes to the bush on the east side and farmland to the west. There appeared to be new suburbs popping up on the western outskirts. So I expect some of the farmland to disappear in the near future. The east side was canefield and banana plantations and winding roads through dense sub-tropical bush. It is a lovely area and I try to make it to the Tweed Regional Gallery at least once a year. I then return to Brisbane via the mountains to the west for a scenic drive.

A lovely country town with excellent Regional Gallery, beautiful countryside and a very good range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The river is very pretty and the Northern Rivers Rail Trail is excellent for a comfortable cycle. We haven't cycled for years and rented top quality e-bikes for a wonderful few hours on the trail. There are no steep hills and the scenery is wonderful. There is good coffee and cake available along the way. We enjoyed live music in the Imperial Hotel in the evening and ate two lovely dinners in different restaurants.

Murwillumbah has a surprisingly good array of community services and plenty of restaurants, pubs and cafes, clothing shops, supermarket and pretty much any other type of retail you require, also, if needed a couple of hospitals. The Tweed River runs through the town, and there are some lovely drives, cycling or walking destinations to enjoy the beautiful countryside.

À town “ with heart” missing thé warmth and opportunity to shop in smaller shops with lots of character and charm in other Australian towns - Murwillumbah seems to have been able to maintain it - loved historical buildings and the countryside

Didn't see the town as we were short on time.

Didn't see the town as we were short on time. Bought a few grocery items from IGA. Exiting the car-park was a little challenge but given the time of day, expected. A local fresh produce store was also located next to the pub. Had dinner at the pub next door which was enjoyable. Dined out on the verandah looking out over the river. The manager of the motel recommended visiting the local art gallery. There were rowers on the river early in the morning. The sunsets over the mountains and river were memorable, great for budding photographers.

The croft is set on a rural property with beautifully landscaped tropical gardens. The studio has a pool out front. The breakfast goods set aside for us to cook and the welcome platter were generous. The hosts were friendly. the drive into Murwillumbah through cane fields yields views of Womumbin and surrounds. The rate was very good for Easter and Bluesfest time.

A beautiful old hotel that had been very tastefully renovated. Great restaurant with lovely food and very good value for money. Live music in the front salon on Saturday evening was also really good, it was Hayley Grace a local guitarist and singer. It couldn’t have been better!

This is the second time I've stayed here and I'll come back again in future - the hotel has a great location just a short walk away from the town centre and the rooms are very spacious and have everything you need. Effortless check in and out procedures as well. Loved it!
