Lovely picturesque country town. Friendly and thriving.

Lovely picturesque country town. Friendly and thriving. Lots of cafes and eateries. Loved the Imperial hotel for our short stay and dinner. Loved the cafe Keith for breakfast. The jacarandas were blooming during our visit which made for a wonderful vista.

Went to Murwillumbah to do the Northern Rivers rail trail which was great. Stayed the night and dined out the local eateries and also visited some of the other nearby towns. A relaxing couple of days.

Murwillumbah and the surrounding areas are beautiful, very scenic and the town itself has quite a few interesting shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's a good spot to enjoy nature and it's not far from some beautiful beaches. The rail trail is excellent.

Nice touristy country town.

Nice touristy country town. Parking in the commercial centre is a nightmare. Best to park by the park and walk into town. Seemed to be lots of little cafes, and various knick-knack and essentials services. I was there for the Regional Gallery, and stayed at the Gallery Motel, which was 5 minutes south of the centre, very close to the Gallery. I have previously stopped at the Murwillumbah Motor Inn, up on a hill West of the town centre. I would recommend this for a budget stay as some rooms have shared toilet facilities, and a room could be got for under a hundred dollars ($85 on this occasion). I did stop in town to look at an Arts Centre ... a sort of co-op space with various artists. Basically, a big shed with containers for 'artists in residence'. It has a coffee shop and a stage for live performances, although not while I was there. Looks like they might teach there as well. I drove around the suburbs getting a feel for the space, and it is only 10 minutes to the bush on the east side and farmland to the west. There appeared to be new suburbs popping up on the western outskirts. So I expect some of the farmland to disappear in the near future. The east side was canefield and banana plantations and winding roads through dense sub-tropical bush. It is a lovely area and I try to make it to the Tweed Regional Gallery at least once a year. I then return to Brisbane via the mountains to the west for a scenic drive.

A lovely country town with excellent Regional Gallery, beautiful countryside and a very good range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The river is very pretty and the Northern Rivers Rail Trail is excellent for a comfortable cycle. We haven't cycled for years and rented top quality e-bikes for a wonderful few hours on the trail. There are no steep hills and the scenery is wonderful. There is good coffee and cake available along the way. We enjoyed live music in the Imperial Hotel in the evening and ate two lovely dinners in different restaurants.

Very convenient location and hotel. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The bed was comfy. Bathroom was clean and surprisingly stylish. TV worked. Kettle worked. Shower worked. Even though it was small, you could fit everything in the storage space provided so you weren't cluttering your room up. Could order room service direct from pub downstairs (although basically no vegan options, so I couldn't). Check in & out was super easy. Overall, it was a very good place to stay and would stay again in future.

The croft is set on a rural property with beautifully landscaped tropical gardens. The studio has a pool out front. The breakfast goods set aside for us to cook and the welcome platter were generous. The hosts were friendly. the drive into Murwillumbah through cane fields yields views of Womumbin and surrounds. The rate was very good for Easter and Bluesfest time.
