I went to school there many many years ago, it was nice to revisit and reminisce. A shame many of the shops are vacant but guess they can't compete with the big commercial brands in Young. Amazing what the towns benefactor has done in regards to medical facilities. Praise to Hilltops council for the maintenance of the area. The new country club is great for golf and a meal. Lots of history and nice places to drive to for day trips

It's a relatively quiet town although events are held there or in neighbouring towns throughout the year. We loved the Wool fest/Running of the Sheep celebrations in Boorowa which was close by. The painted silos are worth a look at.

This venue was in Murrumburrah, just outside of Harden. It is a small historic town which seems to be being reinvigorated with coffee shops, a good pub and accommodation . Harden township looks very sad with most buildings closed.

we had an enjoyable night . the country club should have somebody on reception all times. the bar attendant that we spoke to didnt know much when we asked her where we had to leave the key because we booked out before the club opened.

Harden-Murrumburrah are twin towns in the central west of NSW. The road through town is wide and parking is easy. The towns have some impressive early 20C civic architecture, a couple of splendid churches, and several comfortable, substantial homes. There is an annual art prize, which is exhibited in the former Court House. We did not visit it but there is a rail museum in the vicinity. The pub is great for a meal; also offers accommodation. A couple of cafes serve quite delicious light meals. There is a special honey shop. Sadly, the towns suffer from the economic downturn that afflicts many regional centres, with a lot of vacant shopfronts when we visited.

Great country charm in Murrumburrah and Harden.

Great country charm in Murrumburrah and Harden. Murrumburrah has a great little museum which reflects the past history of the region and its connection to the light horse during WWI and Boer War. Great monument to 'Bill the Bastard' which is a 'must do' piece of Australian history to check out. Food at the Lighthorse hotel was fantastic as was the service.
