FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

Absolutely Australia's most liveable city by far!

Absolutely Australia's most liveable city by far! So funky with music, entertainment, bars and pubs open much later than the Gold Coast which closes at 8pm! With the university ss part of the CBD now the small food pop ups were everywhere offering amazing international cuisine Shops are still buzzing at closing time. This city is electric with energy!

People, shops, cafes and locally made products in Hobart set...

People, shops, cafes and locally made products in Hobart set a great vibe. North Hobart was buzzing on a Tuesday night with so many choices of restaurants and cuisines. The countryside with many wineries and local cheese in the Coal river region is a must visit so are the berry and fruit farms. Further east the river views and beaches were stunning along the coast.

We had 3 nights in Hobart and managed to see quite a lot.

We had 3 nights in Hobart and managed to see quite a lot. The Harbour side is lovely for a walk and something to eat with food markets on a Friday night. 1hr Harbour Cruise was worth the trip and lots of history and information. Mona Art Gallery is always worth a visit. We also visited the Wooden Boat Centre in Franklin and had a guided tour there. Lovely to see the salvage and rescue of some old wooden boats and all work done traditionally. Views from Mt Wellington/Kunanyi are amazing - but take something warm it can also be very windy. Salamanca markets are fabulous - so many different stalls and all good quality. Give yourself time and take cash if you have it. Get there early it gets busy.

Perfect location. Can get the skybus from the airport and walk 2 streets. Hotel is right in the centre of Hobart. Walking distance to everything - Mona Ferry, Markets, constitution dock. They are currently renovating the hotel - but you wouldn’t know. Rooms don’t get serviced daily - but if you need something just ask. Room contains big fridge to keep you hydrated. Bed comfortable, clean rooms and updated bathroom.

It was a super comfortable and clean place to stay! All the stuff were super helpful and it was a super easy check in/check out for us. Plus the hotel was in a great location to be able to explore lots of Hobart as we were happy to go on walks and felt the hotel was on the middle of all the places we wanted to go to while we were in that part of Tasmania.
