A small town but a great spot to travel out to some remarkable locations (Molly springs, Ivanhoe crossing, gorges, gin brewery etc). The trip down the Kununurra river is brilliant and I would highly recommend taking a scenic flight over the Bungle Bungles. The Pump house is the best restaurant in town, but book because it does fill up quickly and for breakfast you must visit the Wild Mango Cafe

An excellent place to take short trips from, for example Emma gorge or Wyndham. The town is small but there are some very nice eating spots. Great for fishing, with Barramundi being the fish to catch. I would highly recommend hiring a 4wd then you can get around the town and also explore some great places that are out of town but accessible only by 4WD. But don't panic nearly all the tour operators will pick you up from the place you are staying if you choose not to hire a car. Check the temperature because it can be very hot.

I really enjoyed all the day tours I was able to do from Kununurra to Lake Argyle, Bungle Bungle, Mitchell Falls and El Questro and there are some lovely art galleries in town. Generally people were friendly however I wouldn't venture out after dark. I was very glad I chose the Kimberley Croc Motel as it is very central, right opposite Coles, so easy walking distance. It's nothing flash but has a lovely little pool and courtyard, a good laundry and kitchen so very economical, and also pet-friendly. It is also secure. If you have a vehicle there is lovely accommodation on the edge of town beside or near the lake.

There are hidden gems.

There are hidden gems. Some great galleries and the landscape around Kununurra especially Lake Argyle - breathtaking; over 350 billion years old. The sunset cruise on Lake Argyle is a must do. Wanted to see the Bungle Bungles... but needed another person to book a seat for the flight. There is a great coffee shop in the centre of town - yummy cakes. You can also learn more about Argyle Diamonds which are stunning. Artopia is a fantastic gallery in town and there is an Indigenous Art Gallery on the outskirts - a very inspiring place. Kununurra suprised me. It has a lot to offer - it is a great starting point if you want to explore the Kimberly.

It's a great base for exploring the east Kimberley and has very adequate grocery liquor and butchery stores for self catering. It's an interesting town and people are nice. People cautioning us about security were wrong. We felt safe and secure the whole time. Saturday market was fun.

This was our third visit to Kununnurra and we would definitely visit again! Our kids love The Grotto - particularly in dry season when it’s more suited to swimming. Mirima NP is such a surprise so close to town. Many walking tracks to make each visit a little different. Lake Argyle is stunning and so surprisingly huge. We’ve cruised, with swim, there on each visit. Check the supermarket closing times before making plans. They open and close earlier than where we live - easy adjustment to our plans to suit.

Spacious modern room which has all the necessary basic facilities. Rear door access to the swimming pool and reception. Comfortable king bed (two joined king singles). Friendly and helpful staff, happy to help, chat and accommodate extra requests. Good on-site restaurant and sports bar with variety of drinks, beers. On site barista coffee & breakfast truck every morning. Located off just main road to not hear traffic but easy short drive/walk to town as required and across from Lake Kununurra for a walk/run.

This is a great park just on the outskirts of Kununurra. We had a deluxe cabin on the waterfront of Lake Kununurra . It was clean and fitted out needs perfectly.
